Ironbreaker is the best tank a team can ask for, so I can see people getting salty if they get a different version of the dwarf.

Pro Tip: You don't just go run into groups of enemies.
You do need your teammates to pick up the slack in tanky characters tho. I started playing footknight with a 2H hammer and my other pal plays zealot which seems to be a very durable class aswell. I have to admit that I do miss ironbreakers taunt sometimes, but its fun to switch up roles now and then.
When we queue up for quick play usually a waystalker/sienna joins and we are good to go. This combination seems to work rather well, but its offmeta.
IB doesn't really do a great job preparing you for slayer at all. If you need some extra practice, put some levels on Salty and give zealot a try. Zealot actually plays very similarly to slayer, but is a little more durable and forgiving.
Also, while you should always take the dual axes in one slot, I recommed carrying an anti-horde weapon in your other slot. Your best bets are the 1-hand hammer or the 2-hand hammer. You can -kinda- use pickaxe with the slayer's increased attack speed, but it still doesn't work quite as well as these two.
