This guy put it like an a-hole, but he's not wrong. It is really a bad idea to be on the ledge side of the fight. And some attacks can't be blocked; you need to dodge to not be knocked out or outright killed. If you are ledge side, try to dodge to the side and circle around the boss.

You're given multiple seconds upon the boss spawning to relocate to more suitable fighting areas, and you can move the boss around as need be during the fight
Fighting in areas with cliffs is just asking for trouble
when life gives you lemons... (git gud)
