Just had a run where 2 archers spawned from nowhere to poke me.
Horde spawned a clump of beastmen in the middle of a clearing.
The spawns in this game must be a joke for Fatshark.
You also missed Latency problems due to Peer to Peer as opposed to the Dedicated Servers they advertised before the game's release.
I brought up the idea of adding specials to help counter "exploits" multiple times in the past.
Ranged Meta? Add a 1h great axe shield chaos warrior who is resilient against ranged attacks, can't be stagger by them and is more of a front line tank bent on using knock back cleave attacks.
Dodge Meta? Add a Beastmen Ungor Raider Elite Archer who will initially throws a weighted net that debuffs dodging/movement/stamina regen. Perhaps as is with the Beastmen Wargor you could have 2 or 3 spawn when one of these specials spawns with lowered damage but then you have a higher chance for the weighted net to be effective.
But no. The developers instead listened to a minority of elite players who happily exploited the game and we got what we got.
Im srly, i dont like any of your tips at all, the net will not work during beasthoard as you transform in to a metal blob sitting there hoping you block will hold.
We already have archers that slow movment.
As or the CW with shield, like a chaos pat is not wipe already
The comparison between Skaven, Norscan, and Beastmen Specials is a joke.
Obviously adding more specials will help balance things out a bit and not have faction exclusive maps have to rely on other faction specials (Dark Omen, Skittergate).
Obviously adding more specials will make it needlessy complicated and make every faction feel the same. Especially to avoid this, they used a different approach for the Beastmen with less Specials/Elites and a stronger horde so that they play out differently. Beastmen works as great supplement to the enemy rooster and make the whole game more complete.
- see monk charging
- press and hold block
- eat full combo through block and die
No idea how having a front line special that should more easily counter ranged + a ranged special that counter mobility would "feel the same" because it wouldn't.
Beastmen are only a strong horde due to spear men stabbing at your from behind a blob of other beastmen + fast attack animations from the other infantry enemies that deal a crap ton of damage. Stronger horde? Nah more like bad design.
edit: Beastmen are also a "strong horde" because of bugged spawns and sounds where they can spawn right behind you while making zero sounds because apparently they are ninjas.
Wait, you mean those suggestions you made above? People complain about the game being slow and tedious and it taking forever to kill enemies. And your solution is to introduce a net, literally slowing you down, creating situations you cant avoid damage. On top of that a shielded CW which will block not only range but also melee combat making him near impossible to kill and dragging the game even more? What is next? A shielded Chaos Spawn and Minotaur? The problem is community has no idea of game design.
The Beastmen are strong because they fill the holes in the enemy line-up we had so far. The fornt liners are harder to kill and deal lot of damage but are easy to dodge. The spearman are hiding from behind but don't do much damage similar to the Archer. The design of them is solid (beside bugs). Attack speed and maybe a slightly reduced horde amount may be something which could be adressed. People just have to adapt to them and stop asking for streamlining every horde.
The front liners are easy to dodge? Maybe if you can see their attacks in the first place. As it is they're too close and normally you can't see their attack animations. This is on top of the ice skating spear beastmen, stabbing you through the front liners. Aside from that, I do like the beastmen and hopefully when enemies phasing through each other gets fixed, it'll balance out more.
But don't forget that dodge was buffed and enemy tracking was nerfed, in the first place, because Fatshark couldn't fix sliding/pirouetting enemies any other way. The underlying problem wasn't resolved, so of course when those changes were reverted the old problems returned.
