Reversed Left Analog Stick
Just picked up this game from the Humble Bundle (+DLC), but I'm having a few problems getting it to work just right.
First off, The game will actually crash if I am running Google Chrome in another window. Now sure why it does this, but I can pretty easily just not run GC.
However, I am using a wired third-party controller (ProEx PS3 controller, with controls manually mapped in the Steam options), and it works fine on other games. On SR3, though, the left analog stick is reversed along the Y-axis; pressing up causes me to scroll down in menus and walk towards the camera, and pressing down scrolls up/walks forward.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

inverse the y-axis in sr3 options/controls

Tried that. Y-axis is reversed on menus; inverting axis in control options does nothing.

and try this one:
in your your display.ini file, found here:
...\Steam\SteamApps\common\saints row the third

change the line
InputDeviceAutoDetect = true
to
InputDeviceAutoDetect = false

(make a backup of the file!)

Made the recommended change to the display.ini file, and also unplugged everything from my laptop barring the controller and the power cable and, unfortunately, it still did not work. The game appears really buggy in general; playing it in windowed mode caused everything else to morph colors, and trying to change the display options in-game caused it to crash. Is there a compatability mode I should be using or something?

sounds like you're playing it with outdated intel graphics drivers?
not beeing able to change the gfx options ingame is a sign of SR3 not detecting your graphics device for some reason.

i don't play with a controller, but i know that the xbox360 controller is working nice.

Updating the graphics card drivers seems to have fixed the problem of the morphed colors and the crash, so thank you for that!
Controls are still reversed, though. The controller I'm using is a third-party PS3 controller; do you think that may be the cause of the problem? Like I said earlier, it works fine on other games (tested on Mark of the Ninja and Portal 2), but not on SR3 for some reason.

yes, i think it's the controllers driver not working with SR3 - check if there's an update for it.

there are also some "tools" to make a controller work by mapping the buttons to keyboard input.
e.g. Xpadder[xpadder.com]

I Have This Too

Did anyone figure this out? I have the same issue with the ps4 gamepad on Windows 10. Everything works fine but the left analog stick is inverted. So, pressing up goes down, etc. It's really annoying.

Saint's Row 2 worked without an issue and I've found several threads reporting this issue but can't seem to find a fix. I'm not using any emulator software as Windows 10 just sees the PS4 remote as a 360 remote.

I have the same problem, but it just happened recently. all 22 hours I''ve played were on Windows 10, using a PS4 controller and the InputMapper program, and I never had any problems. The other day I turned it on and suddenly the left stick is inverted :/

I just finished Saint's Row 2 and swapped over to the 3rd and have had it since starting. I've searched all over the internet for the solution but all I can find is people with the issue but no one fixing it.

It's pretty frustrating. I've not had this in any other games and cannot find a fix. I don't have any kind of mapper program as I've not needed one before since Win10 just recognized the gamepad :/

I found a fix after searching. It was in the SR4 forums, but it works for SR3 as well:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/206420/discussions/0/630802343960997597/#c616199347854702918

At least this works with my PS4 remote on Windows 10. I can't say for other setups.

And in case anyone finds what he's saying confusing, here's a summary:

1. Go here: https://github.com/x360ce/x360ce
2. Scroll down to the download section
3. Download 32-bit (SR3 seems to be 32-bit)
4. Unzip it into ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Saints Row the Third
*Note you'll have to figure out where you installed steam/SR3
5. He mentions the xinput1_3.dll, but that won't be in the zip file, it'll be created once you run the exe the first time after unzipping it (it asks you to create it)
6. Edit the x360ce.ini with the following: (this section exists so just update it)
[InputHook]
HookLL=0
HookCOM=1
HookSA=0
HookWT=0
HookDI=0
HookPIDVID=0
HookName=0
7. Do the same with SR4 when you get there
8. Enjoy
