I got banned from the BR Discord for using Vencord

So I woke up today to the news that I was suddenly banned from the BR Discord for "TOS violations". At first, I was confused as to why they would ban me for no reason, but then I remembered posting something last night that caught one of the mods' attention.

Last night, one of the RP groups for BR that I was in got hacked, with the hacker hijacking the owner's account and turning the server into complete anarchy, doing things like:

• Changing the group's name to "pee pee poo poo land"
  
• Changing various channel names to dodgy stuff like "beta cuck", "furry porn", and "fnaf NSFW" (no actual porn was posted though)
  
• Spamming memes and mentions in general chat
  
• Hijacking other member's accounts in the group and making them say things that wouldn't normally say

Naturally, I took a screenshot of all the chaos that was going on and posted it to the main discord to report what was happening. However, instead of taking immediate action, the mods were more concerned about why my Discord chat looked different from normal Discord, as they noticed that it's UI looked glossier and had a bunch of features that vanilla Discord doesn't have. Since it was nearing my bedtime, I had no time to defend myself and logged off thinking nothing of it. Then the next morning, I wake up to find that I've been permabanned from the server. It takes me a moment to realize that they have a rule that bans anyone that uses client mods. Let me take a moment to tell you all why this rule is stupid.

For those who don't know, client mods are discord mods that allow you to modify Discord in any way, such as changing the UI or adding features not present in vanilla Discord. The three most popular client mods that people use are BetterDiscord, Vencord (which is what I use) and Replugged. As the creators of these mods state clearly on their download sites, client mods do technically break Discord TOS. But here's the kicker: Discord is not actively seeking out those with client mods . There are hundreds of videos on YouTube that talk about how to install client mods or showcasing new plugins/themes for people to try out. If Discord really did care about their TOS, videos like these would not exist and there would be way more people banned. This is why I'm not banned from Discord entirely, just the BR server.

Another thing to note is that the client mods I mentioned above are extremely popular. Each of these have their own Discord servers, with Vencord alone having over 62k members. This shows that client mod users are way more prevalent on Discord than many think, and are often hiding in plain sight since other people can't see what themes or plugins a client modder is using (unless they take a screenshot of their chat).

So to the mods of the BR Discord who think they've saved the day by banning what you think is an evil hacker, I'm not the only client modder on your server. There are many others hiding in plain sight that you don't know about. Unless you decide to go on a great purge and ban people in the server left and right for suspected use of client mods, it's better to just not bother enforcing the rule to begin with.

EDIT: So I've looked through a few comments and many people were saying that client mods allow you to see deleted messages and do bad things with them. First of all, none of the plugins I have installed involve seeing deleted messages. They're all just basic QoL stuff like a "Read All" button or seeing who is currently typing a message. Secondly, I can't even find such a plugin on my client mod's plugin page. Seriously, I typed in various prompts relating to seeing deleted messages and nothing popped up. which shows that not even the devs of these client mods would want such a plugin to exist.
My intent with having a client mod was never meant to be malicious. I first got into them because they provided a lot of features that Discord was too lazy to implement on their own (In fact, it was thanks to this YouTuber that I was first made aware of these). I never wanted to blackmail or dox anyone. I just wanted my improve my Discord experience, and nothing else. This will be the last time I will be commenting on this, as I do not want to deal with this petty drama anymore. Goodbye.

Discord clients are known to have powers that you shouldn’t have . Viewing deleted messages, viewing hidden channels… etc.

It is literally the first line below rules is to follow Discord TOS and Community Guidelines

We don't ban for suspected use, because that is not what discord requires of us. We ban for confirmed use. Which you confirmed.

Discord does not permit us to remove the rule, because as a verified server we must enforce Discord ToS and guidelines, which explicitly prohibit modified clients.

Brick rigs is a verified server. They have to follow discord TOS to as precisely as they can (they represent discord as a verified server)

Some things may slip through the cracks. But like stated before , that is a violation of TOS , at least from last time I read it

Lol, banning people for using client mods, sounds like an extremist approach, but that's the brick rigs community for you, just a lot of trolls and crybabies getting mad at each other for any reason possible.

Even if using a client like that is fine and dosen't cause harm, it's still against TOS. If the moderators of the BR Discord do not enforce it even if the rule is dumb, the BR discord could be taken down. Plus some clients allow certain things like seeing deleted messages which could be harmful.

its not sad if u read The things other people wrote it may be Harmful having an Modified Client and seeing Deleted messages is kind of Invasion of Privacy because when you delete a message you are sure no one can see it and when someone sees it you may be sad because u wrote something wrong and didnt want people to see it or accidently gave private infos Which Is not Good Because There Are bad People in the internet andbefore saying something that doesnt really match the others that are right is just a thing that doesnt make sense i read those comments and first i tought the same but those people that commented are just right and i know that it feels sometimes bad being wrong or just getting angry because of it i know that feeling doesnt change the fact that it isnt really sad the only way getting unbanned from this is uninstalling the Mod Client and Calling DC Support or something idk but its sad for him but well he did something wrong so case closed ban deserved kind of
