Material's half the equation, brick size is the other. Bigger bricks = fewer joints = less breaking. Persoanlly though, I like me some 1x brick things... them blows up real good like!

If you just want it to be resistant to enemy fire tungsten is the best material, but it looks really horrible. If you want it to lookgood then use aluminium and steel/tungsten plates within the hull, this wont be as string but will be more realistic and better looking.

Tungsten/gold tungsten a densest material (strongest) and is fireproof

Aluminum is best. Lightweight and very stronk. But really no armor is best armor
