Mitsuhide Akechi, for example, was known for being skilled with a rifle. When you combine this with the fact he was also a skilled liar and would later betray Nobunaga, resulting in the latter's death, you get a Mitama shard that makes a poison rifle. Cute.

Musashi is the quintessential swordsman, so it makes sense that he has boosts to the katana and his shard creates dual knives. Dual knives don't really feel like I'm using swords, they feel like knives. So, from an aesthetic point of view, dual knives make sense. From a gameplay point of view, boosts to the katana make sense.
Siebold, though, really should have made a rifle. It would have made the most sense to me.
