Chainsword vs Power axe

Which weapon has more dps? The power axe does more damage in a single swing, but does the added speed of the chainsword make up for the lower damage per hit? Or is the power axe a straight upgrade?

I'm mainly asking for the campaign

As far as I'm concerned, it's a situational thing, not a question of raw DPS. While there are situations where the Power Axe's higher damage is necessary, those moments are few and far between. For most of the game, the chainsword will see you through.

It pretty much doesn't matter for the campaign, just go by rule of cool

Besides, you're playing as one of the Ultramarines, and the power axe is really more of a Space Wolves weapon; fits their aesthetic better. After all, the Space Wolves are commonly characterized as "Vikings IN SPACE!", while the Ultramarines are "Roman Legions IN SPACE".
