How Many Shots From A Bolter Rifle Gun Does It Take To Kill A Space Marine/Chaos Marine in Multi Player?
I don't have this game but I was just wondering how many shots it take to kill a space marine from the bolt gun, the 2 handed standard gun space marines/chaos marines use.

3-5 bolt rifle torso 2-4 head
7-10 bolt pistol torso 1-4 head
2-4 stalker rifle torso 1-2 head
7-10 heavy bolter torso 3-5 head
This is based in my experience playing PvP

Makes sense. Games Workshop's really big on making sure that all Warhammer Fantasy and 40K games are lore-friendly, after all. In the lore, your standard bolter round is armor-piercing as well as explosive, so it doesn't surprise me that it wouldn't take all that much from one of them to take a Space Marine down. Then again, even a lasgun can get through power armor if you're a good shot and you know where to aim, as the second Gaunt's Ghosts book reveals.

A tactical Marine has 100 armour. Devastator has 125 armour, 175 with iron halo. Assault has 60 armour. All 3 have 100 health.

Bolter does 11 damage to armour. So just to break armour, you need 9 shots for Tacticals, 13 for Devastators, 16 for Iron halo devastators, 6 for Assault.

After armour is broken, you do 22 damage per shot to health which means 5 shots for everyone, but if you headshot then just 2 shots of 56 damage.

Note that armour bolter headshots do NOT do extra damage compared to bodyshots, unlike bolpistol armour headshots and stalker bolter armour headshots.

This calculation does not account for things like Combat stims, Impenetrable and other modifiers.

Krak rounds increase effectiveness against armour which you can do the calculations for yourself now that I've given you an example of how to calculate this, and the numbers are on the wiki albeit on another article.

I don't recommend using the bolter because as my previous post noted, unlike the boltpistol it does not do armour headshots extra damage. I don't know why the developers chose to do that, but it's pretty stupid if you ask me because the headshot multiplier is so high, you can actually outshoot players with both bolter perks with just the boltpistol if you get good enough at it. The boltpistol is a tricky weapon that requires you to learn how to time your shots and aim properly for the head, but once you get used to it it's basically like having an upgraded bolter. This is why there is basically no bolter players in any competitive Space Marine clans.

If you would like more useful info for the multiplayer, I wrote a guide for newer players: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2581919205
