Report a translation problem
The game will launch in Windowed mode, so you can set the resolution to your native display, quit, then remove "-window" from "Set Launch Options".
You can only do it through Steam - editing the start menu shortcut or the .exe itself will not work. I've had similar black-screen-resolution issues with other games on my Radeon-based laptop, but no problems with nVidia graphics chipsets.
As a final hint, be sure to use a gamepad to play. By design Space Marine is a Gears of War clone (and was designed for Xbox 360 and PS3), and is difficult to play with a keyboard and mouse.
