XBOX ONE Controller not working

I have seen similar issues with 3rd party controllers and I bought this game when I had a 3rd party one. I gave up on this game and moved on and eventually got tired of always hacking the controller to get it to work with Steam. So I bought an overly priced Xbox One pad and just remembered I had never gotten to play Space Marines, and since it works with EVERY other game I play on Steam I thought surely now would be my time to wade through lakes of orc blood.... Yet the same problem persists.

The start button works to initiate the main menu but after that nothing.
I saw one post say that hitting the keyboard enter key to continue into the main menu cleared up the glitch for them but this does nothing for me.
I have been looking for solutions for hours and Im just sick to death of this. I payed for this game and its honestly near unplayable with a keyboard and mouse.

Can anyone provide some kind of insight? If not I hope I can raise hell enough to get my money back... which I doubt cuz its been a while

Okay i feel stupid. Well its more of a design error than my own but I still feel stupid.
Apparently you have to go into "Game Options" and turn the game pad on....Which just seems rediculous and why the hell wouldnt they put that option under "Control Options", like a normal person would?

So I guess false alarm
