Dedicated Server question
My server is up and running. The only problem I'm having is not seeing it in the online lobby.

I have to join by ip, or add to favorites using ip to find it. I'm hosting this on a VDS with GSP and it is permitted to pass thru firewall. I have found the server on game tracker also. If any admins have an idea on how I can get my server in the public online list I would appreciate it.

Same issue. Running, can join it and see it on LAN, doesnt show publicly. You ever find an answer?
Same Here! There must be a solution. I see other servers in browser. I wish that the people that have servers running and showing in the ingame server search would help us out.

Funny thing is that when I host a server via the game with my gaming machine running STEAM It shows up in the browser. But when I try to host it on my VDS with the dedicated server files installed via STEAM CMD and no STEAM running in the background, The server starts just fine and runs but you can only join via direct IP connect, but it's not visable in the server search browser. :(

Someone Please Help!!!

It has to be Steam being open then. But if steam needs to be open how would we play? Even with is running on another PC, the server tool counts as a program and you cant run 2 things on one account. When I run the server without Steam up I can join it but dont see it in list. I dont know if people can join either I dont have any friends with the game lol

You just installed the server via Steam CMD?

I used my secondary Steam account to run the server tool and left Steam running and now my server is visible without having to search for it on the main list
Yes all the servers I have ran in the past 7 years were all downloaded and installed via Steam.cmd: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dedicated_Servers_List

Yea, I guess that using a second STEAM account would work. But does that require having to buy another copy of the game for that account?

You should not have to buy another copy of the game to do that on a second account. Also on a VDS you should not have to run STEAM in the background using valuable resources that are needed to run the game. Most all dedicated server files for a server are created and distributed by the developer so that running STEAM in the background is not needed.

Nope didnt have to pay for anything!

Ya idk why but it seems Steam needs to be running for it to be visible. My Ark or 7 Days to Die server dont need it to be but whatever works I guess. Now to try to get some people to play

I just logged in to my secondary account, ran the server tool, and it launched and was immediately visible
So is the second account that is running the server tool on a PC that is at your home or is it a rented remote server?

Also did this require you to install STEAM on the PC you are hosting the game from in order to log into that second account?

Thanks :)

I have a secondary PC I use to run servers on in my house. I already had downloaded Steam on that PC so I just launched Steam, logged in with my second account, ran the server tool and it worked
Hmmm, I'll check that out. I'm just concerned about security and bandwidth usage on my home connection and network. That is the main reason I rent a VDS.

Thanks Again!

Steam has always been open even tho it didnt need to be. I was only trying to close Steam because it wouldlt let me run both. I dont see how Steam being open changes much. Been running Ark servers the same way for years no problem.
@ IAMISOBE,

Thanks man, I did what you suggested and it worked great! Now my server is showing up in the game browser. I will create a post so that this can help other people that want to set up a server. I will let them know that YOU helped me out with this! :steamhappy:

Thanks Again!
