It's very similar to survivor making, though there are some additional steps involved.
could you at least tell us where to find the models in question?
this is what comes up when you google the question
Then go to steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2
and open up pak01_dir.vpk and navigate to models/infected/
then extract the vpk
then you decompile and plop him into blender or 3dmax (i use blender)
then you import your model size him up right
then you edit the model to fit bones (or move them to the body part you want) WARNING IT WILL STRETCH IF YOU PICK TO DO THAT
then you should have a boned figure (if u used automatic weights) if you weight panted your self thats fine too
then delete its models smd then export into the model file you put the models sources in
then replace it
compile it
make a vpk
plop in addons folder
