I do wish there was a better wiki for the game but I feel most people just use Steam guides instead.
if anything there is a lot of bloat and possible contradictions. Especially in the versus sections.
i only really used it for the stats so i can compare something like awp dps to single pistol (because it really is just that bad in dps)
I remember that the graffiti section had hundreds of completely made-up graffiti messages in it for over a decade, and that was only changed when someone recently noticed and took a few days to sift through all the misinformation to make corrections.
The wiki is good enough for quick checks about general information, but for anything more thorough or detailed, it's better to rely on experienced individuals, or resources that are widely considered as reputable and reliable.
unfortunately the wiki isnt as vibrant as it used to be when Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 was recently released, so there isnt much activity on our wiki. and not much activity mean not much people to check the quality of the info the wiki's pages
i do have big plans for the wiki for when i return to do another big contributions (i have other stuffs to do at the moment). however, theyre most likely not fact checking, cleaning, proof reading, and updating the info on the pages. so if you are reading this, dont forget to be bold and edit it yourself. Wikipedia even stated this: "Fix it yourself instead of just talking about it". optionally state your reason for the edits
as for the wiki being fandom, i do also wish that the wiki move from Fandom to become an independent wiki like Team Fortress Wiki, Combine OverWiki, Portal Wiki, and noticably Minecraft Wiki. however, its easier said than done. having to know how to move everything and whats the cost of doing so is the first challenges. then having to try to reach as much people as we can to change the URL and stop using fandom one, alongside with fighting the abandoned Fandom wiki on the search engine as they paid to appear higher in the search engine than other wikis (Search Engine Optimization). maybe one day the wiki will move from fandom, but there is no big plan for it, i apologize
so for the time being, please use an ad blocker and, if you can, help improve the wiki yourself if you can. if you have any question ask me here on Steam, on Fandom in the name of Randompeeponinternet, or on Discord as ducduygaming
I can definitely see why the wiki has been left like that for a while, and why there's not much activity and quality checks. Big props to you for attempting to maintain it, though. I wish you good luck with fulfilling your goals with it and I'll be sure to try my hand at providing clean-ups to some of the articles if im confident in the information I have. Cheers!
