I think you misunderstood me. I've owned the game for a long time. However, there is an achievement called “Good Guy Nick”. To get it, you have to play a campaign on a “free weekend” together with another player who doesn't own the game yet. So it's part of the game to play it with someone who does not own it. And it's one of the last achievements I'm still missing. Of course they deserve the money. It's a great game! But with some "difficult" to reach achievements.
And since there have always been free weekends on special occasions, I think the 15th anniversary would be a great opportunity for this.
I'm also missing that achievement and have waited a long time for a free weekend. It's a good opportunity for Valve with the anniversary in mind, but I don't expect they will do it. I don't think they mind it being free for a short time - like, everyone and their mother has L4D(2) at this point, and it's really, really cheap on offer for how a good and iconic game it is. I just don't think they bother because it's an older title at this point and they've "moved on", but I hope I'm wrong=)
Looking at your comments, you clearly don't.
Ontopic:
They simply should make every christmas sale give a free weekend. No more endless discussions of "when if", just a clear statement of when you can get it. I got it the first time, still think it's an absolutely annoying achievement for anyone else though.
just let it go, they dont do anything.
I stated that not every achievement is fair to get. Unless you're really determined to get it you'd just join achievement idle otherwise keep crying about how you're never getting a free weekend for a dead game
Absolute clown kek
doesnt it mean you just need to help anyone, who got the game for free. which are probably many and many that got it as second account.
just play with them? it doesnt matter if its free weekend. just need to get it on a free weekend? o-0
(and am sure, in some months i ll ask the same again derp)
Once the free weekend ends, the players who have been playing for free need to buy the game in order to continue playing, and once you buy the game, you're no longer a free weekend player.
In other words, free weekend players only exist while the free weekend is active.
