It’s usually a lottery system but the more damage you have the more likely change you’ll get the tank. However I’ve seen people get tank with 7 damage while the top damage was 600. It’s possible.

guess ill spit more on downed people then

i up this i think its chosen at random as the round starts (survivors leaveing saferoom) iv never seen the tank be given to someone who joined mid round (unless the tank lost controll) and the people with lowest and highest damage have maneged to get it

i can also note that people have maneged to get tank twice in a row etc

the tank is a rng system just based on how meany players are on your team i have never seen damage mean anything towords tank chanse

if jaiz is right that the damage dose affect who gets tank and whatever then id actually would like to know how the system works cause it dosnt just seem to favour highest damage

my average damage is 2nd place. And in my experience the guy who just joined and has 0 to 20 dmg while the top player has like 300 and I have around 220... The guy with the least damage always gets it. So I don't believe in the "the more dmg you have the higher chances you have to get it" bogus. From my perspective it's just 25% chance for each player.

I think that the game should choose a player or enable a voting syste, as to who should get it like some servers do.
If the game chooses the player then it should consider the following things:
-Average lifespan of each infected spawn for the player
-Average damage done by his spawns.
-Number of attacks without support (when they attack by themselves and do nothing basically since the whole team is dead)

So if the player has top average lifespan and damage and low lone attacks then the game should automatically give him the tank since he can be trusted to not rush into fire and actually wait for his team to start the attack. Basically choose whoever has shown to use more strategy in his attacks.
And with the voting option... just disable the ability to vote for yourself.

i can agree and disagree with voteing system in a competitive aspect yes you have every right to do this

but on the other hand if your pretty new to the game (say 100h) and people se ethat on your profile with there 500 + hours there not gonna give it to you

or freinds will even just abuse the system voteing eachother etc

the randomness can be rather unfair but in a casual setting its fair that its just a 25% chanse for everyone regardless of skill etc

if anything i feel like there should be a tutorial level for infected showing situations where a tank should push and a tank should not push and would even be able to show off the effect of a team attack

while its too late for the game to be given that it would help out new players alot

would show common things like dead stopping and death charges and how teamplay matters

I've found that sometimes it's the person who gets damage first

I thought about this too. But I've found another instance.
The first person does 20 Dmg in their first attack, but then another scores 70 in the first attack. So it goes to the person with highest dmg.
Other times the first person to attack has 1 dmg, while the others have like 30 average, and they still get tank.
So there's a small chance that if you are the first one to attack with most dmg you might get the tank.

makes sense. because when i was still new to versus i would play like an idiot. make a tiny play at the start and always end up getting tank
