Anyone else dislike playing dark carnival?
Map 1 is super open and playing as infected is obnoxious at times because of that

Map 2 is alright but the crescendo area feels tight at times, and it takes quite a while for it to end after pressing the switch, but besides that i think its the most balanced map here

Map 3 is chokepointey as hell in the earlier parts and the rollercoaster event can be a huge slog at times if infected keep getting on the track non stop

Map 4 is possibly the 2nd worst level in the entire game, because of its obnoxious end with the infinite horde in a choke point. If you didnt preserve a bile from all the way back in map 1, good luck beating this one quickly.

Map 5 is the best finale ever in the survivor side of things....but possibly the worst one when playing as the infected. The area is open as hell and theres a military sniper spawn so if some survivor knows what theyre doing you basically cant play the game.

hence its the only good map in this game

The item spawn density is manually set for every map, and can be modified for each item.

Everything in the game that appears to be random is just a bunch of obscure rules picking results consistently. The only reason it seems random, is because you don't know what those rules are, or that they exist in the first place.

The item spawn rates are set for co-op and for versus with the info_map_parameters and info_map_parameters_versus entities respectively - If you made a map, you could set it so Versus doesn't ever spawn laser sights or molotovs, while setting Co-op to spawn at least 99 grenades every single playthrough.
The exact values are usually chosen by the level designer.

You can also designate specific item spawns as "must exist", which will force them to exist every single playthrough, in the exact same location.

Even the supplies dropped by uncommon infected can have their drop rates increased or decreased through map logic, and even per-difficulty, if the level designer wants to.

yea no, the 4th map is without a doubt the worst in the game, just the endless never stopping horde inside the tightest chokepoint

so many expert runs basically got bottlenecked by it
funny

i distinctly remember there was a set amount of infected before they stopped
at least on the old console version

honestly idk wtf they did with pc version but many areas suck or make no sense.
Dark Carnival, The Passing, Dead Air, Blood Harvest have infinite horde.
Left 4 Dead 1 maps ever since they were ported over the crescendo events are infinite horde untill you reach the safe room, with little to breathe break in between hordes.
Nothing, a good boomer bile won't solve.

I knew i wasn't imagining things, plenty of times no bile bomb was found in map 1, we've had games where not a single bile drops. I play with a few people and one of them is not allowed to ever pick up a bile in that campaign cause he uses it at the first event, sometimes he throws it away during a simple horde. I mean dude, we're playing realism expert, you can't do that crap.

i like the finale of dark carnival, i go use the auto sniper rifle, basically specials dont stand a chance against me like %95 of the time.

Its great as a survivor, but it wasn't really balanced for Versus.

I enjoy the essence and atmosphere of the map. I personally never liked the rollercoaster part.

I feel like most of the campaigns are balanced worse than the first game, assuming you are playing on versus. It always feels like one team has an unfair advantage over the other, usually in favor of the survivors. But it seems to be the opposite here from what I have seen. All of the small corridors and pathways are painful to navigate through. You are either going through these wide open spaces or tiny little hallways, which are perfect for Spitters, Chargers, and Smokers. Hordes are usually not a threat, but in these tiny areas, the zombies can basically make a giant wall that you have to shoot through, which is annoying. The infinite hordes don't help either. Probably the worst part for the infected is the finale. It's the first and only time I think where the survivors can get on your level as a smoker, making him pretty much useless. So the survivors get a huge advantage on the finale.

"communicate" mfs when i spam voice lines every 5 seconds (im communicating tho) (i already know how to play the game and how the infected works)

teamwork is hard mfs when they realise the game isn't that hard in the first place and you can likely solo the event if you're not bad.
