Is it normal to encounter 8 Witches in 1 map?

I was playing offline with bots one map, and encountered many, I mean many Witches. With quick counting there were 8 of them, and even more if I heard right.

I'm new at this game, is this normal?

Was it hard rain chapter 2? If thats the case then yes, that's normal. have fun :)

the second Chapter of Hard Rain spawns a crap ton of Witches because they're drawn to Sugar sometimes I'd see up to 10-20 Witches in that Chapter total

that's because the pain they felt when the Virus broke down their organs when they were infected was the last thing they remember doing

not really if you look at all the other Infected even the Commons the Witches are extremely skiny like close to showing bones skiny that's because the Virus breaks down fats first however since Witches didn't have any to break down it broke down their Organs instead which would cause extreme amounts of pain especailly if the person that was Infected was about to be married brides naturelly want to look their best for their big day

As far as I know there isn't any confirmed theory on the virus, but logical sources have concluded that it affects people based on a lot of factors, one being the gender, others are the physicsl exhaustion before death, or habits in life
as for witches I personally think the mutation was depression/anxiety induced, which also explains the witch bride crying from being left at the altar

while most people don't trust Wikis because they can be edited by anyone at anytime what's on the L4D Wiki about the Mutations for each Special Infected makes the most sense.
Witch Mutations seem related to an abnormal mental state which could indicate a predisposed mental disorder, like ADHD. Serotonin imbalance in the brain, etc. Neurotransmitter imbalances are theorized to be a cause of Clinical Depression. Psychological trauma could also be a factor, such as with the "Bride Witch," who may have suffered the mental stress needed to become a Witch when the Infected attacked her wedding. Since the Witch is one of the most notable sex-linked examples of the Special Infected, it is likely that there is also some sort of influence from female sex hormones. It might also be a reaction to anorexia nervosa. All Common Infected observed are of thin or average build, indicating that the virus breaks down fats and muscle in order to replicate itself inside the host. An anorexic woman, already lacking sufficient body fat due to malnutrition, would experience severe pain as the virus began to break down fats in her vital organs, which would explain why the Witch is constantly crying and so famously irritable. Constant hunger pains, which the Witch had ignored prior to Infection, would drive her to seek out easily digestible carbohydrates, such as sugar. A nervous bride would be very likely to suffer from an eating disorder due to stress and a desire to look thin for her big day, which may explain why the Bride Witch exists.
