I've noticed that witches and tanks are a bit easier to kill now and don't deal as much damage i can kill a witch in just a couple seconds with an auto machine gun that was on someone and then when they get up they didn't take near as much damage anymore before you'd be dead on Easy and Normal in a few seconds so they've certainly changed so you don't need to jump on the witch anymore but if you do i'd only do it with a Combat Shotgun but you may still go down just not take as much damage cos you've already got her a lot being easier to kill.
In order to do the maximum possible damage in one shot, you need to be so close that you're touching her - this means literally to the point that you can't move any further forwards.
On Easy and Normal difficulties, aiming for her torso/back and ensuring all the pellets land is enough to kill her in one shot.
On Advanced and Expert, you need to aim for the head instead, and make sure all pellets land.
In Realism she cannot be cr0wned on any difficulty.
This is generally easier with a Tier 2 shotgun (autoshotgun or spas-12), as you can fire multiple times before she can attack you, generally guaranteeing an easy kill. Tier 1 shotguns (pump and chrome) can shoot her twice before she attacks you if you time it right.
Even though there's a bit of leeway with all the shotguns, you should try to kill her in the first shot anyway.
If you're point-blank and not able to kill her, even with 2 or 3 point-blank shots, you likely have a script or add-on that modifies her health/damage resistance or modifies the shotguns' damage output. A successful cr0wn should deal a bit over 1000 damage.
The simplest way to test this is playing on an official server (Official dedicated, not best available dedicated) and seeing if it's any different there, as scripts only work in local servers and singleplayer.
If it's a mod that is preventing you from cr0wning witches, unsubscribe from all of them, and enable a handful at a time until you can narrow down which add-on is causing the issue. (Restart the game between each batch, as script changes often continue to take place even if the add-on is disabled).
If the issue persists without any add-ons enabled, verify the game files by right-clicking on L4D2 in your steam library, selecting properties and going to local files. This basically does the same as re-installing, except it's faster and fixes most issues.
