The Last Stand Update is now available!
Fellow players and tank slayer from all around the world, the Last Stand Update is now available to play!
The update will download automatically when you launch the game the next time, and the servers will update to the newest version once they are empty.
If the update doesn't download immediately, restart Steam and it will show up :)

The Last Stand Update is a collaborative effort between 30+ community members and Valve over the course of the past 11 months.
But that's enough for now, we don't want to keep you from playing, so without any further ado, enjoy the update!

Reporting issues
We are aware of some of the outstanding issues with the update. Some of these are related to the servers being overloaded with the sudden influx of players, as well as trying to process the content of the update, but please do let us know about any bugs, errors, or problems you run into.
Make sure you give as many details as possible - the more detailed your report, the faster we can fix it. Just leave a comment down below with all the information and I'll be forwarding it to the team to take care of!

I have a question! I absolutely LOVED the update! The rock version of the l4d song that plays at the end of The Last Stand- where can I find it? I NEED to listen to the full thing and not when I'm running for my life to the boat. Wonderful job everyone. <3

The custom campaign "Yama' is no longer working for me after this update, my friend can play no problem but when I try to host the game or join, I get kicked to the main menu, what's more strange is part 1 no longer shows up in add ons, when I unsub and resub I see it download but it doesn't show up in add ons anymore.... Why is it working for my friend but not for me???

The update reveal here says all game modes would get a singleplayer option, yet that's actually not the case.

Scavenge and versus modes didn't get that option.

Was the line I mentioned a mistake, or will it come later down the line ?
That was bad wording nobody caught on, it was supposed to be every co-op based gamemode has survival support.

Sad. Especially since in L4D1, I remember being able to play Versus alone versus bots using console commands, with the only obstacle being crescendo events as bots can't trigger those.
What about sourcemod plugins? Will they be supported?

sourcemod servers and plugin creators need to update things on their end, while I don't know the specifics of programming or coding, I've been told that it's not too difficult to change
Can you update so we can play new campaign WITHOUT crashing if you have mods. Like I had enough with that ♥♥♥♥ with custom campaigns I downloaded for years as is.

We're working on it. Everything was working properly in the beta, but something went wrong when we pushed it publicly and we're not entirely sure what or why. We'll have a fix out as soon as possible
Why did you put all the confogl stuff into the maps, like the random props to improve "balance"? Us regular versus players played regular versus for years without switching to confogl or promod because we liked the regular game. We don't want to be forced into playing the promod version of L4D2.

You said the finales don't spawn scouts or AWPs. The first time loading into the Death Toll finale, the spawn room contained a scout, which completely contradicted what you had said. The supposedly lower respawn rates of the annoying, out-of-place, immersion-breaking, terribly unbalanced CSS weapons that only even exist due to censorship in the first place appears to be, if anything, very slight. I'm finding CSS weapons all the time. Others who I have spoken to are having the same experience.

Us versus veterans who want to play the game like we did before have nowhere to go now. I can deal with the now terrible-looking weapon viewmodels (and hopefully just mod them into the classic, far less horrible-looking ones), and even all the new animations and changes of the infected. I can't deal with balance changes like fixing famous level skips such as the c2m1 bus jump, the various bushes and props that are placed all throughout Dark Carnival (my and many other versus vets' favorite L4D2 campaign of all time), and the constant forcing of the much weaker CSS sniper rifles, which essentially kills the sniping play-style because of how much weaker they are than the normal sniper rifles.

The confogl, competitive versus, and modding community is SEPARATE from the regular versus community for a reason. They each wanted different things out of the game. Now us regular versus players are being forced to play with the same things that the confogl/promod map designers decided they want, not what us regular versus veterans want, which is what Valve originally designed.

If you are absolutely insistent on forcing me to use these CSS weapons, I implore you to at least allow us to play the original maps that we have played for the past decade with no problems.

I have to say I'm in 100% agreement, I want the classic L4D2 that I paid for not this mod, and we weren't given a choice, absolute cancer.
Looking for free weekend players to finish the campaign with. Want to get the GOOD GUY NICK achievement
  • Think the new talker is a bit more restrictive than I would've liked, and the update breaks every animation fix mod/SM plugin I've used.
  • The pitchfork comes off as pretty useless due to extremely narrow attacks.
  • Would also be great if you can give Scout & AWP another small damage boost.

Those aside, this is a pretty great update, and I'm thankful for it.

Jaiz and his nerd friends are destroying this game completely if u dont know what ur doing then u dont do it u d.umb m.orons alright? u talk about glitch fixes what did u fix? the coaster climb on dark carnival that actually took some skill to do it? which is not even classfied as a glitch? the game is broken and its far less competitive then it was ever before this update should be erased and valve should definitely not allow people such as jaiZ to work on anything for anyone.
Like your toxicity does to the community? Sure, it has flaws, but at least it makes the game BETTER. Be grateful this got approved at all, you lame-ass spoiled brat.
