Only potential useful part would be in versus against a tank in a close combat area and only if there is no T2 weapons..
For Versus, it can definitely destroy a player Tank in close combat scenarios without having to reload. I think I’ve done it a few times in The Passing and Cold Stream where the M60 usually spawns. Rarely will a decent player Tank put himself/herself in that situation though.
I think of it as a burst damage weapon to pull out in bad situations, usually just an AK or even just a M4 or SCAR are good enough and are much easier to work with. However M60 is really useful in Versus, namely No Mercy 2 if there is a tank, and even if there isn't a tank it helps clear specials very fast when you are close. It can be decent on Realism modes too if you conserve ammo well but just a magnum works better.

They are pretty good if you get fire and explosive ammo to get 150(?) special ammo, rather than the 40 or so you get with a normal semi-auto gun.
