no more FaStmEleE Pros, no more tanks bhopping from one side of the map to the other and no more Lerp abusing long arm tank punches.... just disable the wait command Volvo.
I really wish this is all a prank or something but knowing valve.. this stupid ♥♥♥♥ is their real forte.
thanks valve.
Most mods were to improve it like actually making the alarm cars have more visible lights...
Oh well, I guess Valve wants to kill the thing that even made them a good company, mods.
You're a complete idiot if you think "Wait" commands has anything to do with bunnyhopping or LERP "abuse".
First off the "wait" command can just be replaced with Auto Hotkey. Bam, there is your "wait" again.
Second, it is completely impossible to make a proper bunnyhop macro using wait or simply AHK. You can't just spam +Jump and it'll work. You need to legitimately read code from the game (IE. Hacking) in order to determine when to use +Jump. That can't be achived with simple AHK or "wait" commands.
Also it's completely possibly to do fast melee by hand without any scripts. Incredibly easy.
Luckily I'm more of a survival player than anything else, and nobody plays survival on official, so I get the least drawback from this
I don't even play competitively, only coop, but I'm afraid they'll remove mods even from coop in a fit of insanity. They couldn't care less about fixing their damn game breaking bugs and other broken things in 10 years, but they pulled this add-on ban crap on us now, after almost an entire decade...
It came out of nowhere, no warning beforehand, no reason nor anything, just all of a sudden you go on L4D2 and suddenly all of your mods are disabled in Offical Versus Servers.
I don't think they'll remove them from coop. Not after spending all that effort putting the workshop in. If I remember correctly, mods didn't work properly on official servers at all until they merged the L4D2 addon support with the base game with the Sacrifice back in 2010. I didn't play the game on PC then so I'm not totally sure.
In the addons menu it does still say "Check custom addons to enable them for single player and locally hosted games." It has always said this, possibly a leftover remnant from that era. However, they should still change the string since you can use them online in coop.
I am really surprised that they did this, especially with how they put it in the patch notes like some kind of "fix". It wasn't a bug that addons were working in versus for the last 8+ years, it was definitely intentional. Apparently they changed their mind now to bring things in line with their other games? I don't even think modding is possible on CS:GO or Dota 2 is it? I don't play them.
I can understand not allowing mods on their offiicial servers on games that are exclusively competitive because of the advantage they could offer over other players and as far as I'm aware you can't mod CS:GO or Dota 2 at all, but on a decade old game with a shrinking playerbase, disabling the addd-ons that have been allowed for almost a decade then calling that an "update" is a bit of an a-hole move, don'cha think? They'll never bring this game "in line" with anything unless they start fixing the many bugs that have littered the game since the beginning, or even... *gasp* ...updating the damn engine and graphics already and adding more content. They're not gonna release L4D3, they might as well improve this game.
I know I sound mad, and I am a bit because I hold this game very dearly to me. This update doesn't even affect me directly anyway, but it's still disappointing to see Valve ruining the game even further, instead of improving it... Game's almost reached ancient status, so either make it shinier or just leave it alone forever.
It's quite sad.
