Aimbot users -- what can we do against them?
So far since I've bought this game i've encountered two people who were clearly using an aimbot. They would do things like shooting through walls to kill special infected that hadn't even revealed themselves yet, or killing me the SECOND I spawned. I could tell it was unnatural from the way the camera was moving when I spectated. I would have just tried to kick them, but for some reason Valve thought it would be a good idea to ONLY let survivors kick survivors, and infected kick infected. And obviously the other team wasn't going to kick the person, as they were helping them win.

I found the most recent person in my recent players list. Their username was a foreign symbol, and reported them for cheating (their profile was private).

At this point is that all I can do???

Yes, if the server was VAC-protected, they will receive a delayed ban, and will have to make a new Steam account and buy the game again to be able to play on such servers.

But i remember the TF2 aimbot cheat "Lmao box", before he can be protected against VAC and now, he is down. I think there are some cheats who can be protected against VAC. Just need to know what is this cheat and report to Valve

It doesn't work like that. Please google VAC and self-study it if you are interested. No action is needed from your side.

I shall not continue in this discussion any longer. Have a great day.

Just out of interest, how many hours have you played?

There are lots of great players out there that do insane shots, especially if they have sniper rifles. Are you spawning in obvious/common locations? Regarding wall-banging, L4D2 didn't invent wall banging. As soon as you spawn, you make sounds which gives away your location. Obviously they are going to aim in your general direction. Not saying they didn't hack, but lots of players jump to conclusions very quickly, and 95% of the time, they are dead wrong.

And regarding all these players talking about VAC, they have no idea what they are talking about. There are many cheats out there that will never get you VAC banned. However, aimbots might be the exception. There aren't any aimbot progs that are VAC safe to the best of my knowledge.

We don't have any footage of this, but be aware a lot of good players know in advance where infected will spawn, simply because they know how the diffrent skill levels play, and the instant you spawn you cause a lot of sound that gives away your position, making for easier location. The only way to really be sure is to spawn in as a hunter, behind a wall that offers no tactical benefit (since a normal player would not expect a spawn there) and if they shoot you then, the moment you spawn, then you can pretty confidently say that they're indeed cheating.
if this person was really using an aimbot, then valve will handle it, if it was on a VAC-secured server.

Here's a video example of me playing, where I heard a boomer, behind a solid object, with music and gunfire covering up most of the sound:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUpV6thZgIQ
As you can see, my first shot landed perfectly on the boomer (followed by a second shot a bit further to the right in case the first had miss, gotta double tap to be sure)

Don't forget that some people as so good that they do stuff like this on the regular, or play without music on as to hear SI better, etc...

L4D is a very old game where the line today has become very blurred, almost indistinct between "legit skill"... and aimbot or some other form of less obvious cheats such as aim assist, movement assist, insane bhop scripts, glow scripts, color mods/skins, no recoils, speed hacks and whatnot. Some even blatantly hack, admit to hacking, even share YouTube links to their gameplay and till this day - still no Vac ban on their accounts.

Having seen my fair share of hacks, cheats, suspicious players and those that are flat out not "clean" in their methods - what I can suggest is save yourself some grief and trouble with arguing/debating endlessly about whether something or someone is cheating in versus.. and just report it. Then move on.

In the years I've played Versus, some suspicious accounts and players I've reported do get Vac banned for L4 eventually, some never do (and still, it's plain obvious they aren't clean players to me and some veteran friends who have clocked upwards of 5 or 10 some even 12K versus games). Vac is automated yeah, but still, it's really up to you to decide what you choose to do.

L4D is an old game, there are too many variants of cheats out there. If these guys lack sportsmanship and need to use cheats in versus then the joke's really on them. Just leave the match if you find something amiss or unfair.

That said, the more you play, the better you'll get at distinguishing whether some opponents' skills are legit or whether cheats are really involved. Then there's the whole argument about whether lerping is cheating... whether deleting sound files is cheating etc etc. but that's another thread for another day.

Welcome to versus. Gg

There’s no guarantee that the cheats they’re using will be picked up by VAC unfortunately.

Was in a game today, 2 hackers vsing eachother.

1st was playing ligit untill the 2nd showed up.

As soon as the 2nd one joined infected started spawning directly in front of survivors. On his turn he was bhopping and instantly aimbotting infected.

Then the 1st must have got angry. He got a jockey speed hacked over to the 2nd jumped on his head and instantly killed him.

Then the 2nd RQ. It was quite funny.
Then the campaign ended and everyone left.

Create alts, continue their hacks. Blocking doesn't do much either.
