You break games as much as possible in the best time you can shaving off seconds and milliseconds to beat everyone else doing the same thing

In other words in l4d2 bhop till your dead.
And find skips like the carnival roller coaster. (Actually discovered you can skip it without triggering it)

That's the easy part, the hard part is to do the other part to skip an invisible wall since after you get up theres an invisible wall.
You have to bhop at the right time to get ontop of that small roof thing and go under the small space to get to the otherside under the track.
If you thought bhop was hard wait till you see trying to get it on time to get across, if you fail you'll either incap yourself or damage yourself greatly.

TAS, legit or not, why waste your time just using a script, where if you actually learn it like I did which takes way more skill and time, you'll be a better player than using a silly script? Better yet, learn to do it legit and you can use it on any server, these scripts in official dedicated will VAC ban you...Soooo...Your point?

You do realize that speedruns are not regular playthroughs, and that the -insecure switch is a reality, right?

Besides, you don't speedrun on a remote server, particularly servers as laggy and unreliable as Valve's L4D dedi's, you do it in a local session. You'll want 0 ms and the most precise lerp and server settings to do it. Then again it comes obvious to me you don't know/care/understand anything said here, hence snarky remark. (ps. won't make you a better player).

Hold on, excuse me? This is a public discussion, and I expressed my opinion on it. I was in no way being snarky, I was just saying why essentially get the bhop done for you whereas if you learn it you'll eventually get better at it and can use it anywhere you want? I find that incredibly rude dude, and I wasn't even replying to you, otherwise I would've quoted you. And yes I know you will need the best ping to get good consistent hops, but I mean on servers located in your country where it is 30~ or lower and decently easy to bhop on if you are good enough. Your reply was in no way necessary to me.

Nobody needs. It's a thing people do to go beyond human ability. It's a huge source of frustration to newbies who think they're going to be beyond pro's right from the start. It's not a fair point, we're not talking about the same thing at all.

You're going on about newbies yet you yourself only have 655 hours. Seems legit, understandable have a great day.

>own the bloody game since 2010...

disregarding the entire flawed logic and the fact we're talking about speedrunning and not the game, say what, you're even worse a noob than me. I have more achievements than you do!!11one

Lol. I play for fun, achievements don't mean anything to me. Achievements don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matter if you are experienced at playing the actual game. Come play with me on survival if you want, we can see who's a noob then can't we? ;)

Is that so... if they don't mean much, surely a "pro" such as yourself would have all of them...

Did I claim I was a pro? No. I said I play for fun. If someone plays for fun they aren't exactly going to go out of their way to tryhard for every achievement, and to do everything to become a 'pro' in the game. Your logic there makes no sense. If they don't mean much I won't get them, because...They don't mean much. LMAO.

People don't understand what the point of TAS speedruns are. A lot of tricks in l4d and other games too are impractical by human players, a TAS run is directed toward pure speed and takes away execution problems

in some games, runs go for hours, and see you might have a trick which is 1/100 to get, but if you miss it, it ends your run. Nobody will go for that in a regular run, because of the time expenditure. Might be 100s of hours before you hit it in a run. TAS allows you to include it.

TAS runs aren't about getting around a skill barrier, just about letting people know what is the peak speed, which isn't attainable by humans. it's purely for show, not so much about skill.

By the way, no, speedrun doesn't mean running and not jumping.. smh

all these people hating on TAS and calling it cheating are so ignorant of what a TAS actually is, which is the best possible run of the game by using a lot of time to play frame by frame.

There is a reason why you don’t ever see youtubers such as PCI Gaming at speed running competitions, because there not professional speed runners. Anyone can use a script, simply being able to open an executable and let the computer do all of the work for you is not valid speed running, it’s cheating. “Real” professional speed runners such as the people you see at Games Done Quickly (GDQ) competition dont use scripts. They are so skilled at the game, that they can get similar times to “hackers” (such as PCI gaming and other TAS runners) without scripts.
Games Done Quick has a TAS segment with TASbot, because it is impressive to see the run they put together, it isn't as easy as "omg a script does it for you", they still play each and every frame of the game.

It came across as boastful, it looked like you where trying to imply that you are better at the game, becuase of something as trivial as achievements. Then tried to cover up your mistake by pretending it was sarcasm. If you truly do believe that a counter makes you a better player, then I invite you to play with us sometime.
i'm 99% sure it was indeed sarcasm, since he has a "!!11one" at the end of it..

Ofcourse bhopping is kinda standard if you're talking real speedruns, though that takes an immense amount of practice if you want to do it reliably granted you don't want to use scripts. That said, when you CAN do it properly, beside the speed it gives you it also allows you to jump past certain parts and skipping parts of the map as a result.

Otherwise, watch other speedruns. Scope out any competition, see what shortcuts they use and more importantly, what method they use to do the shortcut. Whether the shortcuts are just normal jumps, parkour or common boosts/zombie head jumps. Hell, maybe even a tank punching you just right. The crane crescendo on the second map of Dead Air is a fine example of the latter. Just let a tank punch you to the other side.

Or, when playing expert, you could skip massive portions using explosive ammo and a shotgun. Again, a good example is the second map of Dead Air when you're past the crane crescendo. Get on the container, onto the building and then you can jump down from the next building and if you time your explosive ammo shot just right, the explosive ammo will knock you back, cancelling the fall damage. Congratulations, you have skipped the entire office section. Just make sure it's on expert though, the knockback won't work below that difficulty.
The same goes with propane tanks. The second map of Hard Rain at the elevator crescendo is the most famous example. Get a shotgun (preferably an auto), find a propane tank, drop it off the edge, hold spacebar and carefully walk off it. Then when you're about to hit the ground shoot the can. Again, the knockback from the explosion will cancel the fall damage.

TL;DR: watch other speedruns. See what shortcuts they use and more importantly, HOW they do it.

you are totally missing the point of his arguement he isnt talking about specifically this game for speedrunning and you two need to stop bringing this disscussion so far off topic and ruining this guys perception of how the community is

This is a Left 4 Dead 2 forum, if he wants to talk about speed running in general, then his opinion does not belong on this forum, he should go to some other forum site such as Reddit and chat about speed running as a whole there.
That wasnt the point of this thread just because he asked in a specific game fourm doesnt mean it doesnt belong here or that his answers dont belong here you shouldnt drive people away just because you dont want to see them asking good questions for good reasons
