Nah fam, or at least I don't post the threads.
I just watch them happen, it's pointless to try and argue it anymore, can't teach an old dog new tricks.
wf.msc
you might still see them, but game isn't going to connect.
i do not understand how people actually play on this nonsense, when it invalidate the core gameplay by adding tons of unnecessary garbage.
Otherwise if you prefer the vanilla experience then go for it. Nobody is forcing you to join these servers. The only problem with this game is how people can abuse the lobby system to make people connect to a server like that while having "official dedicated" as tag, and how some server owners are able to make their server appear on everybody using some trick with steam groups.
truly a god among men
Basically they get a hold of a group ID, set it up so their servers are associated with that group ID, and then get displayed to everyone in that group, even if that group is completely unrelated.
That is precisely why people hate their servers. It's a very shady and sh*tty thing to do, because people who don't want those servers will still be seeing and joining them cause of it's group leeching.
Lewd 4 dead simply leeches off the l4d2 main hub group (the one you "join" when you follow the game on it's store page. This is done automatically when you download the game, which is why users aren't aware of it and why everyone sees it)
Plus, they push away other servers you want to see in your list, by having dozens pf servers from all around the world.
I also distinctively remember that a few years ago they literally had malware in their motd/servers that altered game files in a way that made you reconnect to them whenever you looked for a server at random. I don't know if that is changed now, but the owner of the servers is still a straight up POS
