Optimal keybinds

Hello there!
I love a little challenge, so I started a Nightmare run. While the game on NG is highly demanding to your tools and weapons, the toolset is too damn excessive. I would like to use as many available functions as possible, so I attempted to alter the keybindings. Yet the controls aren't getting much better.

My previous attempts had swapping Focus and Aim. Aiming went to Ctrl (toggle) and Focus to RMB. Gun control went to hell, as you can expect, but now I can dash and cast spells more often.

Any advice how to set up the keyboard/mouse controls for NG? Avalanche put a lot of effort into gunplay and spells yet they seemingly haven't figured out how to make it all comfortable to use ingame.

I am doing an ultra nightmare NG run right now and am using the default binds. I think you're running into the "hard to master" side of things, there's just so many ways to wreak havoc that we don't make full use of the arsenal. It gets better as you play more. I don't think changing keybinds will really help.

If that's the case, well, maybe I should practice more in Doom-2016 first to catch the overall flow.

It's not that different from Nightmare, you just die more. In both cases you really have to focus on building your character so doing Arks is pretty important at the beginning.

I was playing Doom Eternal just before this. It didn't help. ;)
