Rage 2's gunplay is better, but in every other aspect New Dawn is better.
Rage 2 is next week free on epic
That isn't to say Rage 2 is bad, I really liked it, but I think FC New Dawn offers more gameplay opportunities and the similar things both of them do, FC New Dawn does it better.
Like others have said, get both. Rage 2 is free on Epic next week and you can get FC New Dawn at a decent price on Epic or Steam when it is on sale.
Far Cry New Dawn for a more realistic settings. But recommend getting Far Cry 5 too.
Rage 2 for : Mad Max + Fallout + Farcry.
Ignore those recommend Rage 2 on Epic Games, that is only the base game.
Wait for sales on Steam, get the Deluxe Edition.
If you want to sacrifice your privacy to 10cent and epic games, go on, get the free game.
A note that Epic Games Launcher always uses GPU in the background.
Now if one used the 'New Dawn' color palette on the Mad Max game, we'd be closer to reality.
