I have a simple question for you. Did you play the first game? Rage 2 is built around Rage 1, not Far Cry. not Assassins Creed. They took the mechanics of the first game and expanded it.
And in that aspect they did a great job.
Hi and thanks.
Yes I did play Rage 1 which was way more linear. Consider that it was an IP from ID Software but Bethesda (better say Zenimax) single-handed it to Avalanche Studios. So its a complete new approach I would say.
The comparison to Far Cry and AC is there cause there are obviously similar aspects you find in both games. The way how the side-missions are scattered on the map reminds me immediately of those sandbox games. Hey its not a shame to copy good concepts imho.
In that way they did a good job indeed.
But I see why you asked. I did write this comparison in a very bad way. I'll edit it.
Combat mechanics are more from Doom.
When you think back to the original game after playing this one, they're pretty night and day by comparison. Rage 2 feels like it's entirely its own thing.
Yes, it is. Firstly, I like to say that Rage 2 delivers on all that Rage 1 promised. I've joked that the biggest lesson I've learned from Rage is don't make an open world game without an open world technology, which is what we did with our id Tech 5 engine for the original. But you're right, it's kinda like we're launching a new franchise. It's very exciting. We often get people asking, "Well, do I need to have played the first one?" And I'm like, "No. Don't worry about it. We got you covered." You can just jump in and play. Don't be nervous by the 2.
So the map is too simple but you couldn't find all the weapons without some YouTube video telling you where to find them?
Patience in reading helps to understand most things in the first place.
I said: "The map is too simple for my taste."
PAUSE
"You only go as you have to"
PAUSE
"If there wouldnt be any youtube video where to find all the weapons I wouldnt go and search for them to be honest"
PAUSE
If you'd take your time in reading you'd not misinterpret it. I never said I couldnt. I just didnt want to. Actually I only looked up 2 weapons on youtube the rest I found by myself. 8)
But I edited it so others might not rapidly misjudge it also.
Thanks for noticing!
No... no it doesn't. The only thing it does that lives up to RAGE 1 is the combat... and even that's disappointing in the sense it's too easy. I still occasionally need to use the defib replaying RAGE 1 after all these times. I've yet to use the defib in RAGE 2 other than in training.
RAGE 1 was never an 'open world' game. It was the standard id Software corridor shooter with a larger than average hub world. See Hexen, Quake 2 or Wolfenstein 2009. If they promised that they were exaggerating/hyping the product.
I took my time. You don't want to go and find things hidden on a simple map. That's what you said.
So you prefer things just handed to you rather than putting some effort to find them.
As I've said many times... I like the combat enough that I'm willing to stop at the boring locations over and over because the combat is good. Many unfortunately want more than just combat and this game doesn't offer it... which is why they'll rush the story and be done in 6-12 hours.
But I guess you just don't want to take your time and take it out of context on purpose. No sense to take someone that does that seriously.

Lots of people dyslexic (im quite high on the scale for written) i had terrible troubles learning to write english at school with dancing d and b's on the page and words looking wright when i wrote them then looking at them 2 minutes later and even i cant read the words:(. i also spell words wrong alot and the most comon is just to jumble up the first 2 or 3 letters as if my mind jumped on to the enxt letetr im trying to write:(.
but as for the game I enjoyed it myself whilst i think the world is boring and bland and lifeless. the story is well lame But the combat was top notch and thats what pushed me to find every bandit camp and Contrtact/bounty.
I think the devs ahd some good ideas in the game just not all come toghter right But i would recomend this game though as the combat is hours of mindless fun and lets be honest games sould be fun and combat like this sould be played
I used to be dyslexic in my youthhood too. I feel you! No shame in that. Thats why I asked. Though with a lot of training and with a good teacher I kinda managed to get rid of it. It really wasnt easy though!
Thanks for your input!
As of Uncivil he just needs some hugs and doesnt know how to ask for it ;) He got an inner fight about something nothing I said has to do with it but he picked whatever he needed to respond to my post!
It's like you say:"I like to throw balls"
Person1 who just got hit by a ball recently responds:"Oh so you like hurting people?"
Person2 who is a big soccer fan responds:"Ok, lets play a round"
One proclamation, many interpretations.
