  Here are three troubleshooting steps you can try while waiting for support.
  
  Repair game files through Steam or the Bethesda.net Launcher
  Run Rage 2, Steam, and the Bethesda.net Launcher as an administrator
  Add exceptions for Rage 2 in your anti-virus and firewall software
  
  1 type of fix:
  If you are experiencing an issue where you are not able to launch RAGE 2 from Steam (for example, it turns green as if you are playing, but it doesn't open) you need to clear your download cache.

Welcome to the FAQ and Known Issues thread for RAGE 2. Here, you’ll find important information, helpful tips, and other details!

Please read this thread [bethesda.net] for PC technical info such as system specs, where to find recommended drivers, and advanced game features.


PC Technical Concerns
PC Performance Issues: If you are experiencing performance issues in the game, try resetting your video options to what was auto-detected for their card. Additionally, going into the Advanced Video Options and lowering the quality of some settings may improve performance.

You may also try switching to a lower resolution or changing to antialiasing options may help reduce performance issues.



Save Game Location: New saves are made in “C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\id Software\Rage 2\Saves”



Activation through Steam/Bnet Launcher: Rage 2 uses Steam or the Bnet Launcher to validate installation, users will need to have internet access and a Steam account / Bnet account (which is free) and enter their game code when prompted to complete installation.


General Gameplay Issues

• ISSUE: When I reload a save in free roam, I’m not in the exact spot where I made that save.
  
  RESOLUTION: If the player is on a main story mission the game will save their exact spot if they make a manual save. However, if the player is in free roam the game will save them to their last discovered location, even if they make a manual save. All pickups/loot is saved to the profile.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I toggled on the Progress Booster and then loaded an earlier save, and now it’s gone.
  
  RESOLUTION: The Progress Booster is consumable, and once toggled will be used on that save going forward for an amount of time. If the player loads a prior save, they will lose its effects, so this is not recommended.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I purchased the deluxe/pre-order edition and don’t see the extra stuff I got with it.
  
  RESOLUTION: The deluxe/pre-order content can be found in the following places:
  
  Cult of the Death God will unlock shortly after completing Blackout and leaving the area.
  The Settler Pistol and Nicholas Raine’s armor are obtained during the Cult of the Death God mission.
  The BFG is obtained once leaving Vineland after The Ranger, and driving towards the fork in the road to the right. A meteor containing the BFG will crash and the player can pick it up.
  The Monster Truck skin and Battle Standard will be available in the Garage menu once it is unlocked at the end of The Ranger.
  The cheats and progress booster will be available in the cheats menu (under settings).
  Rise of the Ghosts expansion – as this is an entitlement to the first DLC, this will not be immediately available in game.
  Note that the player will need to link their Bnet account to their first party account on Steam in order to obtain their deluxe or pre-order content.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I found a Mutant Bash location in the swamp but I can’t seem to start the minigame.
  
  RESOLUTION: The player must first complete the main MBTV location before the location in the wetlands location becomes available.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I got a mission to avenge a friend, but it’s not incrementing when I kill the faction it tells me to.
  
  RESOLUTION: The player has to kill members of that faction at the specific location mentioned in the avenge mission, not in general.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I found the Wasteland Wizard in a certain spot, but he’s no longer there when I went back after restarting.
  
  RESOLUTION: The Wasteland Wizard will move locations when the player restarts. He will not always be in the same spot.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I entered photo mode and it’s retaining the game’s current on-screen effects or audio.
  
  RESOLUTION: Photo mode will pause the game in its current state when you enter it. It can retain any screen effects or audio that’s present when photo mode is entered.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I don’t see any of my Steam friends names for any of the social features in game.
  
  RESOLUTION: In order to see any first party friends names, they must be playing with their first party account linked to a Bnet account.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: Japanese is not supported on PC.
  
  RESOLUTION: Japanese will be added later on PC, due to a later game release date in Japan.

Known Issues

• ISSUE: Flickering color/shifting fog in the wetlands area.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that can be mitigated on PC by adjusting your settings if it is occurring frequently.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I finished the race and didn’t see anyone pass me, yet I got 2nd. / I saw one of the NPC racers finish the race in an impossible time.
  
  RESOLUTION: There is a known issue where rarely one of the NPC races can be placed onto the track ahead of where they should be, if they run off the track, causing the player to lose. Restarting the race and completing it again will usually fix this, as it very rarely happens twice in a row.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I drove the tank onto the platform by the Authority Base and now I’m stuck.
  
  RESOLUTION: There is a known issue where, if the player has not yet met all of the prerequisites for the Project Dagger mission, if they drive the tank onto the platform they can become stuck. They will have to reload an earlier save.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: PC Only – nVidia SLI / AMD Crossfire do not provide any improvements to performance.
  
  RESOLUTION: SLI and Crossfire are not supported.

BNET/Social Features Issues

• ISSUE: Social features - I got a friend avenge mission, but it’s for an area that I have already cleared in my game.
  
  RESOLUTION: Unfortunately, friend avenge missions in areas that you’ve already cleared will be unable to be completed currently. The mission will eventually time out in your log.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I get stuck trying to accept the legal documents after linking my account in-game.
  
  RESOLUTION: To work around this, accept the legal documents on the Bethesda.net website instead while logged into your account.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: In-game store: I bought a weapon skin but I don’t immediately see it in my inventory.
  
  RESOLUTION: There is a rare known issue where the purchased skin may not immediately appear. Reloading a save should resolve this issue and make the skin appear in your inventory.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: In-game store: My RAGE Coin balance appears off after buying an item.
  
  RESOLUTION: There is a known issue that the balance can appear incorrect after buying several items quickly. This is only a visual bug and exiting and re-entering the store should show you your correct balance.

Technical Issues

• ISSUE: Bethesda.net launcher – The game only boots in English even when my launcher is set to another language by default.
  
  RESOLUTION: It’s a known issue that currently first boot will be in English. The in-game language can be changed under Settings and will save for subsequent boots.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: Steam only – I linked my Bethesda.net account but Friends and Statistics are still greyed out on the main menu.
  
  RESOLUTION: Restarting the game after linking the account should properly allow Friends and Statistics to be selectable.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: My AMD PC crashes on character select with a “Code 35” driver crash.
  
  RESOLUTION: This can occur on certain lower spec AMD cards. Updating drivers should resolve this.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: The gameplay can appear to stutter (slow down / speed up) on my Nvidia 1080 with Vsync set to On. (Also rarely observed on other Nvidia cards with vsync on)
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue with some Nvidia drivers, but turning Vsync to Soft or Off should resolve the stuttering issue.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: The game boots the first time in 1920x1080 on my monitor that has a higher default RESOLUTION.
  
  RESOULTION: It’s a known issue that the game will initially boot in 1920x1080 on a monitor with a higher default RESOLUTION. The RESOLUTION can be changed under video options and will save to the settings so it boots to the desired RESOLUTION on subsequent launches.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: Sometimes adding Bethesda.net friends on Steam fails to update.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that the added Bethesda.net friends list can fail to update for Steam players. Sometimes refreshing the menu or restarting the game can show it correctly, but it usually will fail to show Bethesda.net friends in the menu.

Gameplay Issues

• ISSUE: My wingstick is invisible when I throw it.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that can sometimes happen after heavily using the wingstick or switching the wingstick skins multiple times. The wingstick will still work correctly, and it usually resolves itself on a restart.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: The audio for Prowley’s hologram stopped playing and now I’m stuck in the presidio.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that this audio can sometimes cut off early into the speech. The scripting for the sequence will still fire without the audio so you are not actually stuck. Please wait until the sequence finishes and the door out of the presidio will open.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I paused or went to a menu during Prowley’s hologram, and now the audio is desynced from the scripting.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that this can happen if you sit on a menu during this sequence. It doesn’t stop the sequence from continuing, it just causes the hologram and audio to be mis-timed with each other. Continue waiting until the sequence has complete to continue.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I’m having problems talking to Kvasir. There is a talk prompt but it doesn’t do anything.
  
  RESOLUTION: It’s a known issue that Kvasir’s talk prompt will not work from certain angles. Back up or aim at the head of Legs (the mutant he rides on) before activating the talk prompt again.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: My HUD has disappeared.
  
  RESOLUTION: There are known issues where constraining the game (on consoles) or letting the game sit on a popup message too long can cause the HUD to disappear. Pausing and unpausing usually brings it back. If not, reload a save and it should re-appear.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: I reloaded a save near a door that has a valve on it to open, and now the valve is floating in the open doorway.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue that can happen. Ducking under the valve will let you through the doorway.
  
  
  
  
• ISSUE: At higher FOVs some lighting/particle effects on weapons are offset during certain animations.
  
  RESOLUTION: This is a known issue at some of the higher FOV settings. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t impact the weapon functionality.

Report it on their forums I highly doubt they watch the steam discussions.

Unplayable with a pair of 4K displays. I posted a video of the issue in question. Turning off the second display doesn't fix the issue because Windows still registers two displays.

The issue appears to be fixed. Just tried and the dual 4K display bug is gone.
