no worrys just wanna help:)
Can never be too sure.
When it first booted up the fps was like a slideshow, even on the main menu. But as soon as I got in-game, skipped the cut scenes and chose my character, I went into the pause menu settings and I was able to turn all the graphics options down and set the resolution to 1280 x 720. The game automatically adds the letterbox no matter what resolution you pick since the Surface is 3:2.
Then I set the minimum resolution to 25%. The game now runs at silky smooth 60 fps! I can probably set the minimum resolution higher but for now I'm leaving it here since there's nothing really going on in the beginning area. I can hang around this area and the game runs great. Once I get outside and the fighting starts, the performance is still really good if a bit ugly and blurry because the resolution is so low. But it's still very playable and smooth.
However once I get down after falling from the zip line, there's these strange horizontal bars that show up near the top part of the screen whenever I shoot my pistol. And then shortly after fighting more enemies the game crashes.
I'm not sure what's causing it. But the fact that the game runs fine for a while means it could just be an optimization issue. I tried checking if my drivers were updated and they are, but I've been reading that Microsoft and Intel are currently having a couple issues with the Intel driver software compatibility. Nvidia has its own control panel that you can tweak options with, and Intel's integrated graphics are supposed to have their own control panel that you can download too, but somehow Surface devices are not compatible with it right now unless you install new drivers separately that are not officially supported. For now, Microsoft is supposed to be working on a fix to allow surface devices to natively support Intel's control panel. Some people also recommend installing Intel drivers manually but they can also cause issues with the Surface touch functionality, so I'm gonna hold off and do some more research and/or wait for Microsoft's new drivers.
But it works! ...If only for a few minutes. :)
And it looks like I'm playing on a Gameboy Advance, but it's running at 60 fps!
