Whether you find a location on your own, or an NPC mentions it, what you do there will always be the same (kill all enemies, destroy fuel tanks, etc) and the full reward is given the moment you complete that task.
You can then talk to the NPC again if you want for like, a line of new dialogue, that's it. But really there's no real point in tracking which NPC was linked to which location, it is just to guide you to a few points of interest in new areas.
But as said above, they really just place a new location to explore on your map so you dont have to search for it on your own. I think one or two of them gave you a small reward for completing the mission but that was it.
After I cleared the map, I fast traveled to all of the towns to talk to everyone just to "complete" them.
So, pay attention when they show it to you on the map, otherwise it's not a contiguous mission, necessarily.
Interesting, fair enough!
Maybe I ought to speak to everyone again.
