This suggestion is intended to facilitate improving team matchmaking.
In L4D2, players appear in the recent player list as soon as they share the same lobby/game/session.
Is it possible to make it work similarly in DRG?
Shift + Tab > Bottom left *i* button = Game Overview > Scroll down to players > Click on "View Players"
This shows players in DRG who COMPLETED a mission with me.
This DOES NOT show players who NEVER COMPLETED a mission with me.
^ I would like to easily identify and block bad players: griefers and the bad hosts who disconnect or kick players 10 seconds before it completes.
What I'm suggesting is that - this player list should show those who ARE in the same mission.
So all players who join a mission should appear in the player list.
"What I'm suggesting is that - this player list should show those who ARE in the same mission. So all players who join a mission should appear in the player list."
You see those players in the game.
And if griefing/bad players are a huge problem to you, once again: Host Your Own.
Griefing/bad players aren't a huge problem to me. I frequently join other people's games with no issues. Maybe 19/20 no issues. Then 1/20 griefer issues.
I want to take additional preventive measures against them. But none are available if I didn't manage to click on their profile before joining. In L4D2, I can click on recently played with - see their names immediately, and block them. In DRG, this option is not available.
I can host my own. But I also want to join others. This suggestion would facilitate better matchmaking by helping me to avoid known/confirmed griefers.
This discussion category is "Suggestions + Ideas". So please, stop gatekeeping to keep things the way things were unnecessarily.
It shows only the people I have completed a mission with.
It updates immediately all the time for me. The list never shows those who join/leave in the middle of the mission. It never shows those who kicked me unreasonably. Others have experienced the same thing.
If you don't know what you're talking about, please stop asserting fake information. Thanks.
Maybe just the host's steam id, maybe?
But when I think about it, in long sessions, the textbox gets filled up pretty quickly, especially if the host uses the feature where whenever people ping, a text appears.
Might be better to just ensure the host's profile appears in the recently played with list.
It's really not necessary to do this. Unless you intentionally join a player that you've played with before, the chances of you ever seeing them again are minuscule.
I installed the MOTD mod 5 months ago, for the sole purpose of being able to see when someone had joined my lobby a second time.
Aside from invited friends, not one random person has ever joined a second time. There are enough people playing that the chances of that happening randomly are very, very low.
I have definitely played with the same randoms multiple times. Same names. Same profiles. Most of them are okay. If it's a host that seems to have a familiar name, I check their profile. If it's someone I've blocked before, I avoid that lobby.
When I do encounter griefers, it's usually different names. But I would not know if it's the same griefer - because griefers can change names. And since I couldn't block them, There's a chance I'd join their lobby randomly in future. Or they might join my lobby randomly in future.
Hence this suggestion > Make all players who join the lobby, however briefly, show up in the recent played with list.
I don't use any mods. I play vanilla.
