Why ? It's supposed to take a little bit of time compared to other skins. Just an incentive to at least try more weapons. How long do you think it should take to unlock one of them btw ?I'm intrigued.

I get that it's an incentive to try new weapons, but at a certain point it just becomes a grind. It's the ever-increasing costs that's an issue for me. 20-30K xp per skin is plenty.

Right now there are 7 skins, presumably with more on the way. Even at 20K xp per, that's 140,000 xp with each weapon. That is plenty of time to try out each one. Anything more than that is just tedium.
The backlog is going to cause some problems even starting next season; Say for example you like the season 6 paintjob but you need to grind through seven (remember, S5 added three) others before you can even start working on the season 6 one.

I'd say either allow you to work towards a specific paint (It doesn't have to be tied to which season you have active but that would be one way to do it) or cut the requirements for past paints substantially.
To be fair, the intent is not for you to grind ALL of them out; your average casual player is never going to do that.

The idea is to get rewarded with extra skins for your favorite weapon, the one you use all the time; if your a Scout main who always runs the M1k you're not gonna have any issues getting all the skins for it in a reasonable time.

If you want to be a completionist and get them all, for every weapon and every class, then yeah; of course it's gonna take awhile.

Sure, but there's no reason it needs to take that long. It's not as if the 7th skin is so much better than the first, so why does it require so much more grinding?
Yeah, it's more that the weapon skins are sort of becoming a second battlepass that works behind the scenes, except there's a different one for each weapon so if you want the same painjob on multiple weapons you need to do all the work for each weapon.
There is the flip side to this argument: if you have to play less to complete your paintjob collection, there aren't as many active players online for other players who are just getting into the game.

It's designed to be a grind, because it's designed to get you to play matches you might not otherwise play.
Many have done it, you can do it too! Keep it up, Miner!
god forbid there is any kind of long term progression in this game whatsoever, even if it's something as insignificant as a bunch of ugly skins
god forbid you can't have everything immediately, right?
