it would also be extremely expensive to mass produce a bunch of authentic beer mugs that look like the ones in-game. the manufacturing and shipping costs alone would mean it'd have to be a stupidly high price, probably even triple digits, and then nobody is gonna buy it because its too expensive for a toy mug
But... Ghost Ship is European?
Anyways, what you're saying was true some five years ago, but with the huge leaps in technology, 3d printing has gotten very cheap. I mean... they could even consider just giving us high detail 3d models for us to print for ourselves.
yea its cheaper now i guess, but have you seen the beer mugs? they're extremely elaborately detailed. you'd have to design custom schematics for them in the first place (which itself is a difficult and expensive task) and then find a factory who's willing to mass produce such a complex product
and again, shipping is a major concern with a product like this which is large and fragile. it's not like printing a logo on a t-shirt which is cheap and easy to ship since you can just dump a ♥♥♥♥ load of shirts into one box and send it on its way. the ratio of product to volume would be significantly worse with making mugs
not that i'm against the idea, i think it would be cool, i just don't see it ever happening. there's some guy on twitter who hand-crafts stuff from the game like the beer mugs who does bespoke orders, if you're really interested. i dont remember his name but i know the DRG account retweets him a lot
Seems like someone I should look up for sure. Just to be sure, I'm not asking for a mug made out of glass, ceramic or metal, which indeed would be incredibly expensive, at least from the US. Chinese companies could probably offer the same items at 1/10th of the price. Still, I'd be totally okay with just asking the folks at Ghostship for some of the 3D models for the beer mugs so I could ask a friend of mine to print some. If we can find out suitable materials ofc, seems like food-safe 3D printing is a very complex topic.
