Allow a mission within a promotion assignment to be swapped/refreshed once per day
There are certain missions I just really don't enjoy such as 'Salvage Operation', others are almost impossible for me as a scout such as 'On-site Refining' in the Crystalline Caverns.

This means that the promotion missions can become a roadblock to experience progression. If I have a promotion assignment and I'm stuck with an On-site Refining mission in one of the "harder" biomes (where you need 3 pickax hits to break the terrain) then I have to wait until I can join a game that has a driller, or perhaps an engy.

A way to get around this, just like the 'Season Challenges', is to allow a particular promotion mission to be refreshed/swapped for another one once per day. It's likely that the swap would be to a mission that won't just stop me from progressing.

You can play as driller yourself, you don't need to play as the class being promoted. Better yet, play as another class and get xp for them as you won't get any for your class that's at max level.

No need to wait for others, pick the class you want and host a game. You're imagining this "roadblock" of yours and making up excuses.

What if you get another mission you don't enjoy? Then you're still stuck... Just switch classes and play.

Er no, I only play scout and have done for over 3000 hours, my roadblock is not imagined and I shouldn't need to change class to fit how I like to play.

If I get another mission I don't enjoy then I can wait another 24 hours to try again. I don't want to switch classes, I'm not sure why I should be forced to play classes I don't enjoy to progress the game.

You have multiple ways of dealing with said roadblock, hence it's imagined. If you've played 3000 hours and can't solo certain missions you either need to git gud, lower the hazard level, or play a different class. It ain't that hard.

Try hazard level 1?

personally I just wish you could totally skip promotion assignments once the class your promoting has hit the max emblem promotions

I love playing and promoting gunner, hate when the game tries to pull me around into missions I don't care for so I just speedrun them on haz 1 to get them over with

also iirc theres a mod that lets you re-roll assignments

The point of assignments is to force players to try out many different mission types instead of only the ones they are most comfortable with. Being able to skip missions you find too hard is the exact opposite of what the system is trying to achieve. Instead, join a lobby with the teammates you need, or try out a different class. Limiting yourself to a single class is basically taking away 3/4 of the game's content.
Agreed. Being able to re-roll assignment missions, at least for promos and weeklies, would be a welcome change. Nobody should be forced to play any mission types they don't enjoy just to advance and get their rewards.

This is one of the few failures of game design in DRG - forcing people to play specific mission types in assignments. There's no valid reason for it.

Thankfully for you OP, as usual the modding community has come up with a solution to this problem, at least for promotional assignements - https://mod.io/g/drg/m/miracles-assignment-reroll

You can enable it, re-roll to get a mission type you actually enjoy, disable the mod and the mission won't go back to what it was before (unless you cancel the assignment for some reason). I've tested this with promo assignments and it works like a charm. I'm not sure if it works for weeklies, but you can give it a shot.

I'll be damned if I ever play a sabotage mission again in my promo assignments. No thanks.

But if people don't have an incentive to play a wide variety of missions, wouldn't they just constantly play the one or two mission types they are most comfortable with? I enjoy every mission type, but I wouldn't purposefully pick Escort over Egg Hunt even if I was getting tired of Egg Hunt.

You could argue that players are mature enough to play a wide variety of missions on their own... But with how the devs designed assignments, I think they disagree with you.

I can count on my fingers how many OSR I've played where I needed to dig instead of just placing pipes and using every bit of terrain available to put the pipes.
If anything, Crystalline cavern is one of the easier biome for OSR with how much clutter you can use to move the pipe upwards, which is always the hardest part.

Also, this is intentional design to force you to play different mission types. This is the same for every assignment, and besides promotions past the first one don't do anything so you're not missing any progression. Especially after 3000 hours.

And that's a problem how, though? It doesn't really affect you and everyone else in a negative way. The playerbase is large, there's going to be no shortage of people playing every mission type since everyone has different favorites/disliked.

The more freedom you give you to your playerbase, the better in my opinion. People should be allowed to progress in their weeklies playing content they actually enjoy instead of having it feel like an annoying chore which can lead to them quitting altogether (which should be avoided) and possible negative reviews.

Promos past the first one actually have a purpose now though, they give you cores lol. Would've loved to have that feature back when I was on the grind.

But if OP really has 3k hours then they more than likely already have every OC under their belt already

Thanks for the mod, I'll look into it, sounds like it solves my problem.

One thing I find frustrating about DRG players is how obsessed they are that you play the game the way they think you should.

The only thing that keeps me playing the game is that it's a nice relaxing time waster and seeing my blue level increase. I have over 180 cores and a blue level over 1200, I'm also pushing to get 30M credits and kill 30k lootbugs. I have every OC and cosmetic, I don't have every weapon though. Unfortunately the game doesn't offer much to do at my experience level, but I don't expect it to.

I am fixed in how I play and make no apology for that, I've absolutely no interest in playing other classes when I've found the one that fits me. I've tried OSR missions by myself and it's a nightmare, it's bad enough that the mission type is antithetical to the play style of a scout, let alone dealing with the bloody "hard" terrain. Similarly, after some very bad times I no longer play aquarq missions when there is rockpox on it. When I have a repair mission on an assignment I play those at haz 1 because being fixed in place annoys the hell out of me, I haven't been able to do that for OSRs. Btw, this rant isn't aimed at you!
