We need a way to get rid of Clensing Pods/Equipment
To make a long story short - give me some way to send Cleansing Pods back out of the map, because they clutter my Laser Pointer overlay despite being utterly useless after a point. But let's be more specific:

Removing Cleansing Equipment

Allow players to deposit Cleansing Equipment back into the Cleansing Pod the same way as we can deposit the Ommoran Heartstone and Caretaker Datamass into Molly. That is to say: While carrying an item of cleansing equipment (sprayer or vacuum), allow the player to interact with the Cleansing Pod. Make it a 2-second hold interaction. At the end of the interaction, the tool is returned back to the pod. If no "room" exists for the tool, then the interaction can't be carried out.

This should allow us to get rid of tools littering the ground, removing them from the Laser Pointer overlay and the Terrain Scanner. Best of all, this doesn't require any complex conditionals, as these weapons can be picked back up afterwards.

Removing Cleansing Pods

A Cleansing Pod is called by interacting with either the Corruption from a Lithophage Meteorite, or else with a Lithophage Corruptor directly. I suggest "binding" that equipment to that event on call. Once the event is over, allow the player to interact with the Cleansing Equipment (make it another 2-second hold). Doing so would cause the equipment to fly back out through its tunnel.

As this can only be done after the Lithophage event it was called for is over, there should be no danger of breaking mission scripts. Players can optionally attach leftover Cleansing Equipment to the Pod before sending it back to get rid of that.

Or even simpler

When the Meteorite/Corruptor that a Cleansing Pod was called completes, clear the associated Cleansing Equipment from the map. The Pod would rocket back out of the map, all Cleansing Equipment left lying around would explode and all players holding Cleansing Equipment would simply switch back to their weapons. This is how Industrial Sabotage hacking pod balls work currently, so this shouldn't require novel code.

How am I supposed to keep foaming everyone while waiting for the MULE to go to the drop pod?
Just disable the outline on the laser pointer when every objective that needs a cleansing pod is completed. Don't take away my lithofoamer, please.

That's also not a bad way of handling it. Though they would also need to be taken out of the Terrain Scanner.

Incidentally, my first couple of suggestions would technically achieve what you're asking for. In that case, you'd only lose the tools if you or someone else consciously put them away before returning the Pod. I didn't see a good way to account for that, so I chose to leave it up to player discretion.

Just remove the outline of the pod and the holograms on the tools should be enough, once the closest rockpox is cleaned.
Honnestly putting this much effort into such a little thing, is like throwing a nuke on a fly.

The original couple of suggestions, sure. I did overthink those. The last one, though, should be simple enough to do. Like I said - Hacking Pods already behave like that. Although like I also said - getting rid of the outlines would also work.

I dont see why you need exactly everything you wrote out.
You explained the issue with the pod outlining being annoying clutter on your scanner, yet you need the entire pod removed as well for what reason?
The suggested sollution of just removing the outlines for the pod fixes the issue you explained. So what other issues do you have with the pod existing?
Let the foamer slow the rockpox.......
