I think it's pretty obvious 90% of the time what you want when you ping something. Even pinging a mineral vein on a ceiling/wall should tell any halfway-decent Engie that you need a platform. If they still don't get the signal, it only takes a few seconds in chat. If they don't see you pinging the mineral in the first place, a fancier ping isn't going to get their attention. That's my logic, anyways.
Like I said in that quote though, I think a couple ping options would be nice. We don't need a whole lot. Besides a "flare please" ping, I think another useful one would be a "lots of minerals here" ping. You could just ping an empty room on a wide, open map like Point Extract or Egg Hunt, telling people there's a mixture of stuff to get there.
To sum up my annoyingly long explanation, I think they'd be a good addition. I just don't think they have to get too specific. But I guess if I'm fine with a ping specifically for Scouts, a ping specifically for Engineers is fine too?
Like, you first tag the engi, then you tag somewhere on the wall. "Hey, engineer!" "Look over here!" I guess it should be obvious enough that you're asking for a platform.
Also works with other classes. "Hey, scout!" "Are you blind? Look!"... You know what we need on that pitch black ceiling.
No you don't.
