New mission types are so good...
...that they make (some) older mission types seem a bit barebones. For example, mining could have some other materials to mine than just morkite. Elimination could use some other bosses than just Dreadnought (not sure how realistic it would be but would be awesome if each biome had its own boss).

These were just some examples. I guess my point was that I would love to see something added to these older missions to spice things up a bit.

I would love these to be actual things. Others have suggested similar ideas. I think it would be a great opportunity for them to expand on the world-building and lore as well.

Mining other minerals besides Morkite would be nice. Just off the top of my head, I could come up with something random... like a yellow-green-ish mineral called... uh... Fenzite! Or an orange mineral... let's call it... Mollobium? Different voice lines to go with them at the start of each mission, explaining what they're used for, would be a cool way to expand the universe.

People have been asking for new bosses for ages. I don't know if the devs ever gave a quote on what they're planning, so I can't say what their views are. But I agree that more bosses would be nice. I imagine the main obstacle is making a boss that has different attacks and weaknesses, while still making it around the same difficulty as a Dreadnought. At the very least, I think we could use environmental variants of them. Like a Dense Biozone Dreadnought that's blue/pink like the terrain, with a bright pink glowing weakspot. Or a radioactive green/grey Dread for the Radioctive zone that spews globs of nuclear waste, etc.

Mactera Boss,

Mactera Boss!

Give it a few attacks, some dynamically behaving weakspots (open/closes) all around it, and we are good.

It would have a bit more health than the Dreadnought, but not being armored outside of weakspots and having weakspots all around it would compensate. It would hover slowly like a Goo Bomber most of the time, sometimes lunging toward a player, or air dashing toward/around a player a few times like the regular macteras.

Examples of attacks it could have...

1) A regular aimed, medium speed projectile with high damage (x% of the damage being poison damage). Medium to long telegraph.

2) Volatile lobbed goo grenades it could shoot all around itself at once, exploding in a significant radius when they come into contact with terrain or players, dealing medium damage (direct hit deals that damage twice). Brief telegraph.

3) A goo bomber style charge, first over the players, creating a poisoning trail and slowing down players. Then it follows up with either a charge again to the ground, detonating the trail for increased damage, or the first attack. Long telegraph. Perhaps the AI could try to line up at least two players.

4) A lunge that grabs a player, and slowly damages them until a weakspot is burst? Might be too frustrating/annoying to play against. Would only happen with weakspots still active, and it would emit a sound cue first.

5) An attack it charges for a few seconds, then explodes into a cloud of toxic gas all around it

6) An air strikes in a wide area with the target dwarf in the middle, continuously raining down a few artillery-like projectiles for a few seconds, a green light where the shots are about to fall down serving as a telegraph. The projectiles will stick to the first surface or player it hits, then explodes after a second or two.

7) Summon some Mactera allies. Maybe special or unique versions, like honeycomb bee swarms but as macteras, or a super grabber that would basically replace idea 4).

It would try to stay in range for its attack. Breaking weakspots would have the advantage of disabling certain attacks, or even being necessary to bring it down to a target HP.

Maybe some attacks/design could have biome variants: Radioactive, Frost, Magma, replacing poison with their respective element.

A Mactera Boss would also have to be immune to Freezing. Or at least, not die when it falls from being frozen. Currently all air-borne enemies fall and shatter when frozen.

Talking about bosses, this thing existed at some point:

Maybe that could be brought back with some tweaking.

Well you've got some options. Immunity as you said. Or a very, very low freezing point. Or freezing being made non lethal (but perhaps it would still inflict a massive burst).
