More Beer!
Okay, so, while the selection we have is nice, we really could use some more types to fit the gaps of strength between the current choices, particularly between Skull Crusher and Red Rock Blaster, but perhaps some between Dark Morkite and Red rock, maybe an extremely cheap brew that's weaker then Oily Oaf's, as well as some more drinks that provide "Negative Drunkness", like Leaf Lover's.

From a previous thread, I tested and attempted to discern just how strong each drink is compared to each other, as well as just how much you would have to drink to reach passing-out levels of drunk. You can find the thread HERE.

Here's some ideas.
  • For a weaker drink then Oily Oaf's It could be a brew devised on the space rig, made by miners in their free time as a way to make a little extra money on the side, and compete with Oily Oaf's for the cheap end of the beer market. At around half the strength of Oaf's, but a measly 10 credits per mug, Deep Rot Grog is made by miners, for miners, especially for those who need a drink, but just don't have the cash for anything better. It comes in a unique mug that looks like a miniture barrel with a handle inexpertly welded on the side. "To say it's watered down is an understatement, because that generally requires there be more beer then water in the concoction, but you still get a buzz, and the dirt cheap price tag of this drink guarantees brisk sales, even if it does also taste like dirt."
  • Next as a middle of the road beverage, fitting nicely between Dark Morkite and Red Rock Blaster, it's Axe-Biter Ale at a fair 80 credits. For those dwarfs looking for a taste of the old country, Axe-Biter gives just that flavor of a home forged brew, on top of a 400% recommended daily dose of iron! It comes in a fancy blue shielded mug like Oily Oaf's or Leaf Lover's, except it has a snazzy pair of crossed axes as well. "For many young dwarfs, the idealistic form of getting back to your roots is having your very own mine, with your very own forge, and what is a forge if not for the beer constantly showered in sparks to the point where it tastes like a new-forged axe? Axe-Biter hopes to make even a little bit of that dream a reality."
  • Now for a direct contender with Red Rock Blaster, it's Nexus, an odd beverage, its production shrouded in mystery, nobody even knows where it's made. Reportedly, dwarf beer tankers who report setting out with empty holds will arrive at their destination full with Nexus, and as much as authorities would have wanted to confiscate it for fear it might be poison, it also quickly gained a large following for the strangely purple drink. Rumors have been going around that it comes from dwarfs in other dimentions, those lost during warp jumps, who discovered both this delicious beverage also found the technology to send it to empty tankers in transit. Whatever the case, while it's origins are unknown, fans attest by it's flavor and potency, and you can always tell who loves it from their purple-stained beards. At 110 credits, it comes in its own lovely purple-crystal mug, as well as rumors that if you fill the mug with a lesser beer and leave it overnight, it will become Nexus by morning, but all attempts to test this results in someone drinking the beer during the night. "Nexus is the unknown, it comes from nothing, and goes into our guts. There's all kinds of speculation of where it's actually sourced, but it remains a popular choice, even if it does come from the excretions of some kind of alien hive-mind trying to turn dwarfs into zombie-slaves."
  • Pulsar Pale Ale, when some dwarfs are told that Leaf Lover's has gained quite a following, they generally reply with horror and disgust, but more then once some have replied with "Well have you tried 'Pulsar Pale Ale'? It's better then getting drunk." Pulsar is an interesting drink, not for the faint of heart, it has the rather impressive quality of making it's drinkers 'inversely drunk'. Now for those of you who have partaken of Leaf Lover's, you think this is nothing surprising, but Leaf Lover's only makes you not drunk, Pulssr can take you even further in the other direction, territory not common to most dwarfs. Effects include rapid heart-beat, sweating, hyperactivity, ringing ears, vision fading to white and spontaneous bouts of bloody violence. In its unique cone-shaped mug, apparently because those drunk on Pulsar have trouble setting normal mugs down, this drink comes in at a high 175 credits, but those who drink more then a couple tend not to be able to come back, so the high price might be a good idea. "Pulsar is something you will probably want to avoid, although it does make for a fair followup to some Skull Crusher, because one mug of Pulsar can pull you back from any hangover you would had. Just don't drink more then three in a sitting, because I did, and that is not an experience I wish to have again. Somehow, some dwarfs enjoy that experience, I do not know how."
Of course, as you can tell by the last canidate in the list, this would also introduce an inverse-drunkness, also known as Knurd. It's effects would be similar to a total realization of one's place in the world, in all its gritty horror, as well as an extreme caffeine high. From the prevous thread, as far as I can tell, intoxication in-game runs on a scale of 0 to 12, well, knurd would be an addition of a negatve side to that scale, maybe not all the way to negative twelve, but it would be possible to get to the point where the only way to not be knurd is to have a drink. Also, Leaf Lover's has the extremely strange property also bringing you back from the depths of being knurd, somehow.

And for those who have read the prevous thread, I gave aproximate values of strength for the current selection of drinks, here is a new list with the new drinks in it.
  • Pulsar Pale Ale, -12 (able to pass 0)
  • Leaf Lover's Special, sets value to 0
  • Deep Rot Grog, 0.5
  • Oily Oaf's Brew, 1
  • Dark Morkite, 2
  • Axe-Biter Ale, 4
  • Red Rock Blaster, 5
  • Nexus, 8
  • Skull Crusher Ale, 10

EDIT: apparently "Munch-er" isn't allowed in the steam censor, so it's now called Axe-Biter Ale. It's apparently slang.
