Driller Class: reducing fall impact by drilling down
Was playing as driller today, and fell down a huge cliff.
Somehow, my natural reflex was to look down and put on the power drills. The intent was to break my fall by drilling into the ground, and thus softening the impact.

Don't know if this would be overpowered if possible, but it might be a nice addition to the driller class without having to add extra gear.
Maybe it should just slightly decrease fall damage, by 20% or so.

Question is also if it would have you drill faster; by using the falling force to drill deeper down in less time.

A thing I can recommend is be careful when entering new rooms as they can have massive trenches to which you can fall into... just imagine how many dwarf lives could of been saved if they had just not sat around an edge of a cliff. I don’t think we need any reductions in fall damage on anybody other than the scout, especially driller since his natural habitat should be as close to walls and ground as possible. Cliffs is more of a gunners or engineers job.

What I’m saying is that gravity is an unforgiving ♥♥♥♥♥ but we shouldn’t add upgrades to classes just because of a bit of laziness or carelessness.

I don’t think the drills will increase in drill speed based on your speed. Now if you stand perfectly still while drilling you won’t get very far since your not moving. But the drills have a max speed at which they break rocks. So falling down while drilling will not create a massive pit of you falling and breaking the rocks as you fall before your drills inevitably jam.
