Deep Scan + Meteor Event Bug (or feature?)

Yesterday I found an interesting bug

While playing a new deep scan mission, a meteor landed, and when connecting rock crackers to it, someone from the team has managed to connect a nearby resonance scanner to the meteor itself

After the event we thought that the game is over as we couldn't progress, untill we tried to connect one of the two rock crackers, the one which was left untouched, to the crystal, and, to our surprise, it worked :D

If you think about it, they do have the same connection type and ports, so... perhaps it was intentional?
