Deep Rock Galactic
Constant memory issues suddenly.
For some reason today all of a sudden the game has just had constant memory issues for no reason, and I can't figure out why. It started after changing my resolution to 1080p but then I switched back to my regular settings and the game is taking up significantly more memory than before. Previously (as in pretty much any time ive played except today) i could run discord and this game at the same time with pretty much no issues. Today, I was lucky to get past the loading screen to get into the hub if they were running at the same time. Even after shutting down discord and getting into missions my game still crashes due to memory issues. Even after lowering my settings below where they were yesterday, I still once again crashed 20+ minutes into a mission (still not running any other unnecessary programs). I have verified the game files, uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted my computer multiple times. I know I can run this game as I was literally running it completely fine last night while discord was running. I ran into multiple crash messages but I forgot to record most of them, but the one I got in the middle of a mission while on lower settings than usual was:

"Fatal error: [File:Unknown] [Line: 115]
FSDVirtualMem::Commit failed with error: 1455"

A. Make sure your Virtual Memory in Windows settings is set to auto manage.

B. Open up your case and make sure all your RAM is properly seated.

C. Are you using any mods?

A:
Settings>System>Advanced System Settings>Performance>Advanced>Virtual Memory>Change

Make sure the box that says "Automatically manage paging file size" is checked.

However, it should be by default, so if you didn't know what it was; it's unlikely that's the issue.

B:
Opening up each case, is different per computer, but it's typically just a few screws on the back; or some kind of tab you depress to slide the face off.

Your RAM sticks will be in a row together, and checking that they are seated properly is as easy as pushing gently on each one; to make sure it doesn't wiggle or feel loose.

I'd recommend watching some videos on it though, or getting help from someone more experienced; if you're not comfortable with it.

Okay, fixed the issue. Went into my virtual memory settings and unticked the box for Automatic allocation for all drives, and then selected my storage drives and ticked the “System managed size” box for each one and that seemed to work! I was able to complete a whole mission on higher than usual settings.
