Deep Rock not responding on launch
Hello, I'm having a recurring issue with the game

It started months ago without any fix available
A few days ago I had the same problem but seemed to manage to fix it, although idk how.
And today it came back.

The issue is the game not responding after the Ghost Ship logo animation, blackscreening before the loading screen pops up.
No crash logs, can't open the steam overlay and the only way to exist is through steam or the task manager.

I tried updating the drivers, clean reinstall + deleting config/save files, all launch options and adding -disablemodding, but can't find anything to really fix it.

Sure sounds like when I had a partially corrupt save. Even though you said you deleted your save files did you turn off your cloud saves first, so the game didn't load it?

Try this:

1. Turn off cloud saves for DRG in your game library.
2. Move all the files from C:\Programs\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames somewhere else (a backup folder on your desktop or something).
3. Start the game. It should start you entirely fresh with the tutorial. Hit esc - skip tutorial, check that it loads the spacerig, then exit game.
4. Turn on cloud saves again, start game.
5. Hit esc - options - save menu - restore save. Load up your highest progression save (or whichever you'd prefer).

I may be doing something wrong

I got into the properties and disabled the steam clould saving
I deleted all the savegame folder
game didn't want to launch so it got into a full "update" after checking the game files integrity
after the update, I launched with what I guess is a clean save, but it didn't seem to do anything

edit: tried again redeleting the save files and it didn't change anything

Do you have a different partition or harddrive you can move the game install to?

I did try this last time and it didn't fix anything either. I can retry it though

Yeah, moving to an other partition doesn't change anything either

Welps, then you're off down the long route of troubleshooting hardware and software.

Even though you tried deleting your configs, try launching with -regenerateinis in the launch options.

I'd recommend updating audio drivers as well as video, and DirectX while you're at it. Oh and C++ redistributables.

Could try individual sticks of RAM to see if that might be the problem.

I did try this launch option last time, didn't work either.

DirectX is up to date, I can try audio later

RAM I tested it fully a bit ago and had no issues.

The really weird thing is how it worked seemingly out of nowhere a few days ago but not anymore

Update:

I checked the audio driver which was up to date

I then reinstalled VC_redists, and after the computer restart DRG does launch.

I have yet to see if this will last, but at least we now maybe have a clue.

Thank you for your help, I'll leave the thread open in case this happens again.

Great, glad you got it working (for now at least). Rock and stone miner!

Update:

After restarting the computer, the game came back to the original issue.
