MOD.IO mods suddenly stopped updating
I could subscribe/unsubscribe mods on steam overlay site but one day everything stopped working, game stopped updating mods, even disabling them.

I removed all mod.io folders like one article on the Internet stated but it didn't work. Now I have no mods and infinite "You must agree to the Terms of Use to gain access" with "Fetching Terms of Use from mod.io." in game.

Really cool.
I don't get it how it would work so many days and stop responding completely out of the blue. I couldn't find any log files related to the issue either.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've looked through 20+ same topics through general forum, bugs forum and modding forums. All systems affected and it's been months.

It's amazing that no developer is interested how it keeps happening and there is no solution for it.

Did you get logged out somehow? The game auto creates you an account, and if you got logged out; I can see how it would be difficult to get logged back in.

Nah, still logged in. I tried logging out and logging in but it doesn't matter.
It's like connection between game and mod.io is severed but I can't confirm it, there is no logs.

I found some logs

[2022.08.18-23.23.18:728][713]LogTemp: Error: Modio: Failed to get terms and conditions with error 20489 (An error occurred making a HTTP request) [2022.08.18-23.24.23:075][572]LogTemp: Error: Modio: Failed to get terms and conditions with error 20489 (An error occurred making a HTTP request)

also I cross-validated Modio.log file with my friend and we both have:
[Info][Http] Initializing GET request for api.mod.io /v1/games/2475/mods/.....
but I don't have everything that follows:
[Info][Http] Adding hash .... to cache [Warning][Core] Failed to deserialize json Key: .... [Info][Http] Adding ModIDList to cache with GameID: .... [Info][Http] Adding ModID .... to cache ... ...

So yeah, seems like http requests are getting eaten out of the blue

What is your operating system?

mod.io is currently broken on windows 7 for DRG, i hear they're working on a fix
PEKING DUCK Aug 19, 2022 @ 2:04am
Windows 7, but:
1) it worked perfectly before
2) people with Windows 10 have the same issue
Ettanin Aug 19, 2022 @ 6:28am
Mod.io stopped supporting ciphers that were available in Win7/older versions of Win10. Your only option is to change to Win10 or update your Win10 installation or wait for a fix.

Stopped supporting when, a week ago and just for me?

I have the same problem btw, win 7. stuck at loading terms of service.

The only way around this issue is, unfortunately, asking a good friend to pack their already downloaded mods from `C:\Users\Public\mod.io` and having proper json entries in `C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\mod.io`; they might be with your friends' data, it doesn't matter as it won't connect anyway, it just has to exist and be formated properly.

Also edit in `steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor` file `GameUserSettings.ini`, all mods should be at the end of file, one line for every mod:
`<mod_id>=True`

If you want to update your mod collection remember to add mod files + edit `GameUserSettings.ini` for mod enabling, `state.json` for mod info and `user.json` to make mod "subscribed" and visible.

Thank you so much GSG for making it extra hard to make it work by also DISABLING manual downloads making you probably the only game on this platform to actually use this option :Duckie::gokigen:

It most likely has to be this way for the category system to work and be enforced.

Yeah, that's most likely just for this reason.
Better solution would be offering their own in-house service for modders to signing mods with DRG's asymmetric key pair (and let this mod package with signed manifest be uploaded to mod.io) so game would know mod is valid even if downloaded manually.

Lurking through DRG Jira issue tracker I found game won't even start if it can't make connection to mod.io, even if you don't have any mods. Problem with mods updating/installing/uninstalling is more than 1 year old for DRG and 2+ year old for other mod.io games, like Snowrunner. Also mod.io (for some reason) makes some asset swaps impossible, like for example swapping Doretta's head after exploding (which I really wanted to do for my mods, oh well). The list goes on.

How is that a better solution for the dev's when it takes up dev time that could be spent on the actual game? Mod.io is an existing solution and it works fine.

I'm not talking about "their own modding server" but simple mod-signing service, upload mod, get it signed, download signed mod.

And probably you missed huge chunk of my post that mod.io is NOT working fine. Maybe even this whole thread. Maybe DRG issue tracker too. Or other games' using this service. Or mod.io's one.

What devs spend their time on it's beyond my control, I'm pointing out bug that is bothering people on every platform DRG is on. Of course their own modding server would be far better solution as they have control over what's happening instead of this 3rd party mess but hey, what can you do.
