It's amazing that no developer is interested how it keeps happening and there is no solution for it.
It's like connection between game and mod.io is severed but I can't confirm it, there is no logs.
also I cross-validated Modio.log file with my friend and we both have:
So yeah, seems like http requests are getting eaten out of the blue
1) it worked perfectly before
2) people with Windows 10 have the same issue
Also edit in `steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor` file `GameUserSettings.ini`, all mods should be at the end of file, one line for every mod:
`<mod_id>=True`
If you want to update your mod collection remember to add mod files + edit `GameUserSettings.ini` for mod enabling, `state.json` for mod info and `user.json` to make mod "subscribed" and visible.
Thank you so much GSG for making it extra hard to make it work by also DISABLING manual downloads making you probably the only game on this platform to actually use this option
It most likely has to be this way for the category system to work and be enforced.
Yeah, that's most likely just for this reason.
Better solution would be offering their own in-house service for modders to signing mods with DRG's asymmetric key pair (and let this mod package with signed manifest be uploaded to mod.io) so game would know mod is valid even if downloaded manually.
Lurking through DRG Jira issue tracker I found game won't even start if it can't make connection to mod.io, even if you don't have any mods. Problem with mods updating/installing/uninstalling is more than 1 year old for DRG and 2+ year old for other mod.io games, like Snowrunner. Also mod.io (for some reason) makes some asset swaps impossible, like for example swapping Doretta's head after exploding (which I really wanted to do for my mods, oh well). The list goes on.
How is that a better solution for the dev's when it takes up dev time that could be spent on the actual game? Mod.io is an existing solution and it works fine.
I'm not talking about "their own modding server" but simple mod-signing service, upload mod, get it signed, download signed mod.
And probably you missed huge chunk of my post that mod.io is NOT working fine. Maybe even this whole thread. Maybe DRG issue tracker too. Or other games' using this service. Or mod.io's one.
What devs spend their time on it's beyond my control, I'm pointing out bug that is bothering people on every platform DRG is on. Of course their own modding server would be far better solution as they have control over what's happening instead of this 3rd party mess but hey, what can you do.
