As I understand it they can spawn in a spherical radius from him, ignoring walls; it's possible they just couldn't reach to you due a dirt wall or something.
... weird. I could have sworn it had less health than that.
sentries and sticky bombs also ignore her completely
For me it helped to get really close to the hiveguard.
In stage 2 of Deep Dive, the hive guard did not call out any sentinels.
I thought they might be somewhere in the cave, so I searched everywhere, but I couldn't find a single sentinel.
Therefore, the Hive Guard remained invincible, and I was unable to clear the stage.
Please give me back my hour.
Like HJ I was using the Fatboy. Besides the details in my original post, I remember the bug happened after blasting the Hiveguard well-past one of the thirds of his health, beyond the point he's normally scripted to go invincible again on.
Hopefully the devs add something like a sanity check on a loop that fixes the spawning and reports the game state. It'd be a dirty hack but it would also only take a few minutes to code.
After about 10 mins, just exploring the caves randomly, it finally snapped the Hiveguard out of it, it made the noise to summon his minions, and we were able to complete the mission.
So yea, it got stuck in its invulnerability stage and was unable to trigger spawning until one of us entered some location on the map. Very odd behavior.
Only happened once to me so far though, so idk if that's consistent.
It kinda sounds like the bug got fixed for Cress by getting so far from the Hiveguard the game despawned and respawned its sentinels. I'll give that a try too if getting meleed fails; me and the guy I was in co-op with took turns keeping the Hiveguard busy while the other searched, so we never would have triggered that.
