Thoughts on the mugs?
I like the design, but ... plastic? You want me to drink beer, out of a child's sippy cup?

apart from the little dimple mugs, most beer mugs here are much closer to 750ml give or take (around 26 ounces), instead of a 500ml (17 ounces i think?) when it's for personal use. it is indeed small

my bad for forgetting the product was a pint i guess? 🤣

and no i wasn't implying 3d printed mugs would be drink safe, display only

Context matters a lot, there are a lot of deliberately ignorant and inaccurate takes, like "100$ mugs" when they're clearly 58$ .
if you're referring to people in this thread specifically, they're stating it's a "100$ mug" because they (including me) live outside the US, and it does cost over a hundred bucks of our currency to get one... the US isn't the only place on earth to use "dollars" fyi

literally the first dude in the thread to mention the "close to $100" thing was an aussie lol
$57 + $20-30 shipping and taxes for a single cup made of Lego-land plastic? Hard pass.

I am more concerned about that the whole thing is plastic, and yet still being advertised as being able to withstand hot drinks. Like can it actually withstand boiling water or something?
If you pour boiling water into your mugs, I am concerned about your drinking habits. Even glass containers would shatter from the thermal shock.

EDIT: In case you're talking about tea or coffee, it should still be cold enough to not be an issue.
Christ obviously he was talking about hot drinks dude. Im autistic and that's beyond autistic to think he meant to pour literal boiling water into a plastic cup. Who tf drinks 100 degrees c of water?

I'm not sure anyone here understands how expensive it is to buy complex molds and equipment time at a factory to produce small batches of something.

The plastic being used is also of extremely high quality, and thus expensive. The design is very complex, significantly more complex than your average plastic drinking vessel; involving multiple pieces.

I'm not saying buying expensive plastic mugs from a videogame is a smart choice in general, and I'm definitely not going to be spending my money on something so frivolous, but it's not a scam, you're getting charged relative to what it costs to produce the product; it just costs WAY more than you think due to economy of scale. Ie. They would be WAY cheaper if they made WAY more of them, but obviously no one is gonna buy all of those.

This is exactly what Kickstarter is for, small batches of niche product; that people are willing to pay more than average for.
lol muh "high quality PLASTIC"
plastic

PLASTIC
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-performance_plastics
High quality plastic is literally a thing, "Plastic", like Wood and Metal, isnt a singular universal material. Laughing at a thing for existing because you dont think it exists is wild.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon_6 The specific plastic. Its the stuff that a lot of kitchen utensils are made of for heat resistance.
Even leaf lover`s special cups use better materials than this

you mention child sippy cup as if the game isnt dominated by teenagers, like 80% or more are teens.

Want something serious mugs then grab the game of throne or skyrim mugs in amazon, I've seen a couple there.

Sorry to break it to you but most people playing video games are not teenagers, they're adults.

Christ obviously he was talking about hot drinks dude. Im autistic and that's beyond autistic to think he meant to pour literal boiling water into a plastic cup. Who tf drinks 100 degrees c of water?
He literally said "Like can it actually withstand boiling water or something?"
If you pour boiling water directly into your mug to make tea or coffee, you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ animal. Use a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kettle.

Im so confused man. You DO pour boiling water to make instant coffee or a teabag. You said kettle so I assume you're from the UK. When have you NOT poured water from a kettle to a mug. Literally millions of others in the UK do.

Also they arent talking about the literal scientific definition of the boiling point of water. People class coffee at 60 degrees Celsius as "boiling" too because it will scald you. It's called colloquialism.

My ceramic mug can withstand boiling water straight from my electric kettle and has been doing so for almost a decade now - if a mug advertises itself as heat-resistant (especially if it's made of plastic of all things) without specifying how heat-resistant, then I am going to question how valid that statement is... Not that it matters in the end, I'm not gonna drink from a plastic cup, and I don't care how fancy that plastic is lmao

Anyways if you have a problem with how I pour my drinks you can go buy me a proper kettle and some tea bags for kettles so I can make my tea there instead :)

That proper kettle would be an even less sturdy ceramic, and still surviving the kettle boil water.

It just makes your point better.
