every weapon should have a +ammo green overclock
sometimes you just like the core function of the gun and arent looking for some weird overhaul. just want some more ammo so you can do more of what you already like.

All greens are just "weapon but better" inb4 homebrew and reds like overdrive booster. Seriously, why does overdrive have no downside still?

Homebrew Powder is the funniest thing. It really doesn't need to do anything else because what it already does is fantastic.

Counterpoint: All OCs should have a significant and interesting upside that really changes how the weapon is used, and a significant and interesting downside that also changes how the weapon is used. This would necessitate there being far fewer OCs but that's okay in my opinion.

In addition, using the base weapon shouldn't feel like a straight downgrade. If you just want to use the standard issue weapon, that should be a perfectly cromulent option.

Yes I know this is a pipe dream and won't happen. But I speak of Karl's perfect Hoxxes.

The downside is merely the risk of wasting ammo via activation of the booster at the wrong time. It still chews through ammo very quickly.

"You could use it wrong" is a pretty negligible downside.

Not necessary when most clean overclocks already make the weapon better while keeping its core function similar.

I do agree that there are certain weapons which could do for some better clean overclocks, the Bulldog Revolver and Subata both have pretty niche clean overclocks so it's hard to get a good vanilla build for them.

I don't think so. There are a handful of OCs in the game whose only downside is juggling their gimmick properly. Shield Battery Booster comes to mind. If you don't get hit, it's super OP. But most people hate it, because it's hard to not get hit.

Are you serious? You know shield battery booster has reduced cooling rate and increased heat right?
My point is you can pick booster, end up not using it the entire mission and it wouldn't be any different from just having an oc-less laser.
