Curious about speedrun missions
So I recently joined an speedrun lobby with double xp, I figure speedruns were about focusing on the main objective only so I did (like I keep repairing despite being attacked by the enemys to advance the mission). But I got kicked the momment I called a resupply inside green area in a salvage mission. We were yet to get the fuel cells so my plan was to collect ammo while waitening for the fuel cells to arrive as thats the only "no objective" momment in the mission.

Did I understood something wrong or is there something I am missing about such runs?, Im still new to DRG but I do want to learn.

It probably would have been best for you (the scout) to focus the secondary objective (and collect whatever minerals your team missed as long as it's not gold), while the rest of the team does the primary objective.

I tossed my Cryo to control big amounts of enemys and some big ones, I was burning my ammo fast while staying inside the circle at all times. So as the uplink is 90% done I called for a resupply, because the next step in the mission is waite for the fuel cells to land and connect them, then repair.
It's weird that you were using a lot of ammo, usually scouts don't do much during uplinks/refueling besides taking out distant enemies (web/acid spitters, menaces, etc) and occasionally throwing a grenade when necessary. The rest of the team should be doing most of the work.

I cant tell if the host would had prefered me having 0 ammo and just run in circles inside the green area like an idiot, potentially driving enemys to flank everyone or them having to revive me for going down due lack of ammo...
It's usually faster to order a resupply near the location of the fuel cells, and then resupply after you start the process; but that doesn't really matter if you have excess nitra, and it really only saves a few seconds. It's not something you should get kicked for.

Being the host doesn't automatically justify everything you do, and nor does being an experienced player with however many hours in the game. If what you did wrong isn't blatant, and you aren't provided any reason, it's totally understandable (and normal) to be mad for getting kicked.

The best way to learn is by playing in those lobbies. As long as you aren't dead weight, you won't really be inconveniencing people. And most people will tell you if you are, and what you're doing wrong (and probably kick you if you continue to do it).

That's possible, but I highly doubt it. The host would have to be pretty dumb to try to get that achievement in a length 3 salvage mission, and in multiplayer on top of that.

Just a douche host, try not to dwell on it

rule 1 of deep rock, never join servers with crazy promo crap in the title
rule 2 of deep rock, never join speedrunning lobbies, or circumvent both of these and HYOG

Honestly this, it's best to host x2 xp missions due to how easy it is to grief it

Probably an idiot that believes spending Nitra reduces minerals collected XP.

Let the bozo starve themselves of ammo and jeopardize the mission to see how that speedrunning goes.

Honestly I have nothing against the host, I was just confused as what were the "rule set" for that. Its his lobby, so can be his rules. But not knowing the details for those and the odds of being kicked for whatever at any given momment, yeah Im more than willing to add your rules when looking for lobbys.

Funny enough the title for the lobby were: "speedruns and promoted dwarfs only". All my dwarfs have 2 bronze stars so the title did not imply a high promotion cap, it just felt like the resupply was the issue for him.

I did check some mythbusting videos recently, the only reason I called the resupply as Scout there, was to use my share only for cryo grenade to make the run smoother on the big enemys. But I guess the host did not liked that or still believes in the myth.

Thx for the answers guys, rock and stones!.

The meme is only 3 years old.

We have phrases we use going back 50. What's your point and how else can we hijack this thread with off topic comments? *wink wink nudge nudge*

I didn't even know it was a meme.

In most cases, speedrunning missions is about getting a good XP:minute ratio. The main focus is the primary objective, but it's not the only focus. There's secondary objectives, machine events, error cubes, etc.

I'm not exactly sure what the full context was, so I couldn't tell you why you got kicked. I also don't really know what you mean by "waiting for the fuel cells to arrive". Were you in the process of uplinking to mission control, or were you waiting for the fuel cells to land? I join/host speedrunning lobbies almost exclusively, and you usually don't get kicked for no reason. It's possible you were kicked because you weren't doing much to help the team, or maybe you were dying a lot. Again, I don't have much context, so I have no idea what the reason could have been.
I appreciate that you're open to speedrunning and genuinely curious about what you might have done wrong. I hope this doesn't discourage you from speedrunning.

Sure, let me provide you the full context:
I was looking for a Salvage Mission, and I stumble upon said lobby wich was missing 1 Scout. The mission had 2/3 mules completed, so I got the legs for the last mule and someone pressed the button on molly inmediatelly (0 progress on the secondary).
Now, we repaired the uplink (wich refers to the part that even while I took damage I keep repairing none stop) 3 of us took damage while gunner (host) killed the enemies attacking us.

My scout loadout was GK2, Zhukov with born ready and Cryo Grenades. I tossed my Cryo to control big amounts of enemys and some big ones, I was burning my ammo fast while staying inside the circle at all times. So as the uplink is 90% done I called for a resupply, because the next step in the mission is waite for the fuel cells to land and connect them, then repair.

And thanks, I am not discouraged, Im open to all types of lobbys and such, my usual rule in online gaming is "you are the host, you are the boss", so I was curious what I did wrong and came here to ask so Im still not sure what happend since the host is clearly a veteran with 2k hours. And as it remains, I would keep avoiding such lobbys until I know for sure what went wrong.

Im more troubled for causing troubles to others due my own mistakes than being kicked tbh; and to me, thats what that kick meant.

Otherwise I don't get why they would kick you. Don't think too hard about it. Every game on the net has *those guys* the ones that power trip and make you feel like you did something wrong.
