Any advice on making the game runs smoother?
Recently notice my frame rate drops to slideshow sometimes when loads of bugs and shootings. Especially in deep scan. Whats the settings, or mods if there is any that enhance performance?

There is a mod that removes all particles, which apparently helps a lot (thankfully I don't need it so I never tried). But I know that particles are really badly implemented in this game and cause slowdowns, so I'm pretty sure it will help. It seems to be outdated though, not sure if it works with season 5.

Other than that you can do the obvious things. All settings to low, reduce resolution, use the upscale options in the graphics menu if your GPU supports that.

Post your system specs first.

its already 6 years old device, I dont think the information I gave will reflect its performance...

im here for advice to enhance performance, regardless of the device.

well you say already 6 years old but that still doesn't help at all. Could be anything. I'm running a gtx 1080 still, at 1440p. So posting your specs will help along with the resolution you're trying to play.

At the top of steam go to help and then view system info. Then just copy and paste.

Well, I dont see how device is relevant in trying to run the game smoother other than "buy new device" as a solution, thats not what I seek. Im asking for mods / settings to make the game runs smoother. But since you insist.

gtx 1050
usually plays at 1920 x 1080

well device is relevant as it's the devices that run said game. There's no point telling me what day it is or anything.
so you've got a 1050, how much ram do you have and what processor.
it's important to know the processor as you could have a super weak one that's bottle-necking your 1050 and therefore stopping you from using all it's power / performance.

in terms of settings, keep it at 1080p and use fsr. Try balanced first.
If you have the nvidia app installed then use alt+r to bring up the performance stats to see if you're gpu is being bottleneck by your cpu.

you can tell because for example your cpu usage will be on 100% and your gpu usage will be sub 100%. The lower the gpu usage whilst cpu is maxed the more serious the bottleneck

Also play in directx11 and not directx12 12 is trash

The game is peer to peer, and the hosts computer is basically generating the game. If you have a very subpar setup by 2024 standards then it would probably play better if you just join other peoples games

That's not exactly true, hosting the game isn't gonna have much if any impact on performance; the level is generated before you actually play on it.

beside lowering all the settings to low, try swapping the rendering backend to DX12 and see if it runs better than DX11.

I've a relatively beefy PC for this game (180-240fps) in the HQ but some times when i'm out in a very open area + haz 5 difficulty in a full multiplayer lobby, it can even tank my framerate to as low as 60-70 FPS. This game is very CPU demanding due to how many bugs the game need to render.

remove all particles mod
low poly enemy mod

Use FSR upscaling, preferably FSR 1.0 as it has less visual artifacts and runs better, but isn't quite as smooth. Balanced and Quality modes look okay and will alleviate most or all GPU bottlenecking.

If your performance is still bad then it's your CPU and/or RAM holding you back and your options from that point are very limited. DX12 should help a lot, though you should compare both modes. Particle and environmental clutter removal mods may help, .ini tweaks may help if truly desperate.

But overall if your CPU is overloaded you simply need to upgrade.

That is exactly what telling us your system specs would do. :steamfacepalm:
