That's not the purpose of this discussion. The other was posted in suggestions + ideas, I was suggesting it.
I actually want to discuss it this time.
What do you guys think about the developers adding this, I feel its more important than just being a mod and actually deserves a place as a real feature of the game that can be enabled /disabled.
This is the question that is being discussed. Thanks for reading!
I've already said, one was a suggestion and the other has a main question and is in the general discussions channel, now I really want to discuss this and you guys always overshadow the discussion with petty arguments and insults.
PLEASE. I ask can we stay on topic and speak about weapon heat crosshairs?
It's already implemented if you look at the weapon, why not add the convenience of looking at the target and seeing heat?
Would be good for the fire bullets on the lead storm and the TEF overclock for the plasma carbine.
What about XBOX or PS5 players who cannot mod it?
Personally, I just don't care.
You dont care about Xbox or PS5 players?
Or don't care about the discussion? Because nobody is forcing you here.
I think the indicator should be like the Weapon Heat Crosshair mod, a circular bar that fills up as the weapon gains heat. It almost certainly wouldn't have as many options for customization as the mod, at most it could have a few preset styles.
I'd also like to mention that many heat gauges on weapons don't actually reflect the heat of their weapon accurately, and instead logarithmically fill up. For example, when the minigun heat meter shows it's halfway to overheating, the weapon is actually only a third of the way to overheating. This actually means weapon mods like hot bullets are actually active for two thirds of a weapon's runtime if fired until overheated, despite what the description says. The purpose of this is to make the weapons feel easier to control, so the devs likely won't remove it anytime soon.
Now, the mod's overheat gauges don't do this, and instead just give an accurate linear scale. Now, this is good if you don't like the logarithmic gauge, but it adds some discrepancy between what the UI is telling you and what the model is telling you. This would likely cause confusion, especially with weapon mods that behave unpredictably. Therefore, the UI heat gauges would need to be adjusted to also logarithmically fill like the weapon models.
